The Paladin Order
Dark forces plauge the land of dragons on a frequent basis. But We will always be there to meet them!
People need ways to fight against the forces of darkness. The Shadowslayers are good and all, but their doomwood exclusive and aren't as focused. But undead show up all the time, all over the land! And someone has to do something about it. So, we've put together the order to help people learn skills for taking out the undead as efficiently as possible, using the unending supply in doomwood as training material.
Structure
Uh, I'll admit, I'm not actually the best at handling organization. Sure, people like to follow me, but when it comes to actually running a group like this, I'm not the best. I honestly prefer field work. I guess I'm the leader, but when it comes down to the practical descisions, I kinda leave the actual managment stuff to James.
Ah, would that happen to be the undead man I saw doing paperwork on my way here?
Oh yeah! That's him. I killed the necromancer that summoned him, and rather then just move on, he wanted to stay and work for us, to help make sure other necromancers don't put others through what he and most undead deal with. It's nice having him around, helps remind us we aren't just fighting for the living.
Public Agenda
Obviously we do focus on killing undead and stopping necromancers, but there's more to it then that.
See the thing is, most forms of necromancy put the undead they summon through increadible pain and constant suffering, just so the summoner can assume control more easilly. And they don't have to, the odd lich certaintly knows how to do it so they stay comfy. But it lets them summon undead more easilly, command them more efficiently, and draw more power out of what dead souls they collect. It's utterly unbearable hearing their suffering, so I make it a policy of slaying every undead I find, freeing their souls to move on.
There is the odd necromancer who figures out how not to do that, and we're pretty freindly with them! But most necromancers either don't bother or aren't taught ways to do so. And so the suffering continues, until we take them down! For both the living AND the dead, we won't stop until everyone is safe from this curse!
History
While the Paladins may have a lot of history, the group tends to form and break apart as it sees fit, often rebuilding itself almost from the ground up each time, only working with what the prior occurances had left behind. They form together in times of desperation, when undead tend to reach dangerous peaks. People wielding the power of light, or simply invested in fighting, would band together and fight against the darkness. They would forge weapons, recruit allies, create powerful spells and keeps, and then when the crusade finished, would leave it all behind, warded by light so the next generation of paladins to wield.
I respect their method, but I felt that we should have something a bit more lasting, so I've been rebuilding the order, but this time I plan for it to last!
