The Elemental Orbs

After the event known as the Elemental Flux, the Avatars came to work with the current Astral King, Cuestos Somnus, to create and preserve artifact that would help them anchor their realms within the mortal world, acting as unlimited but controlled conduits between their home plane and the mortal realm. While this would ensure the mortal plane would be unaffected by the elemental war, barring extreme circumstances, there was some danger in creating such things. The danger of these orbs is not only their unlimited power, but the fact that they essentially served as manifestations to the entire plane, much as the Avatars themselves. To hold one is to command the very plane itself. Thus were the orbs given to Cuestos, who would found The Guardians to ensure noone would be able to access them.
