Heritages of Uncommon Ancestries
This is still a work in progress and subject to change and additions.
While originally humans were the only sentient ancestry of lore, over the years magic, Eikons, and evolution has led to many branching paths and forms. There are many ancestries in lore, and while you can find people of all kinds anywhere, many find themselves more at home in certain regions for various factors. While the most common, like humans elves, goblins and so on, can be found just about everywhere in equal amounts, others tend to have their roots more closely to their homeland.
- Anadi: While Anadi are native to all of Azyvyr, most have ended up in Tkannie, given their natural proficiency for fabrics makes them rather adept at, and quite fond of, soulweaving. In turn, they have flocked to Edelia and nearby towns, to learn the art and help their arts reach more.
- Android: While Androids can be made via a wide variety of methods, most tend to be after effects of Cloudbank, EIther proxy androids waking up, or former citizens bodies readjusting from lack of the cities immortality, or a variety of other reasons. However, on occasion other technologically advanced kingdoms will craft androids. It is important to know that the main difference between an android and an automoton is the nanotechnology within them, and not necessarily the humanoid form. Hence why cloudbank, one of the few places to bother developing such tech, is the primary source of androids.
- Automaton: Automotons tend to come from any number of high tech civilization, whether it's the Shapeless Empire, Astravia, Cloudbank, Popsprocket, or elsewhere. Civilizations capable of making robots tend to make robots, and sometimes those robots wake up. That said, each civilization tends to have it's own style of making robots, so you can often tell where an automoton originally comes from.
- Azarketi: Also known as Sea Elves, their people tend not to leave the ocean. They tend to have grand cities under the waves, but this limits their contact with the upper world quite a bit.
- Catfolk: Catfolk, while common enough, have some distinct differences depending on where they are from. The most notable is the difference between catfolk of the Land of Dragons, and those of Azyver. Namely, while those from the former tend appear as humans with feline features such as ears and tails, Azyverian catfolk appear more like human-cat hybrids. an exception is Akiba, where both variants can be found frequently. The reason for this divergence is unknown, but mostly only aesthetic.
- Conrasu: Mostly located on the outskirts of the fissure, these beings are often created due to the effects of the mana core. However, most conrasu tend to wander, curious about the world they have formed within.
- Fetchling: Fetchlings are a faction of man that, long ago, took the war against doom directly to the plane of darkness. Over time, they evolved to survive there, and those that came back found themselves quite different from their kin. While they can be found anywhere, they are rather rare. Some rumor there are some still within the void.
- Ghoran: Primarily living on the outskirts of the Maguma Jungle, these plant people seem to be byproducts of the jungles innate power. However, only those born on the outskirts call themselves Ghoran, and only they are willing to talk to others. They know as little of the depths, or their more hostile kin in the depths, as most of the unknowing world.
- Gnoll: Gnoll primarily wander the badlands of Volkenraad, dominating their landscape. Highly practical and efficient beings, they tend to keep away from the rest of the world unless they see merit in it.
- Goloma: Goloma naturally originate from Maguma, and are the few to live deeper within. Yet even they only live so close to it's center. While they appear dangerous, they tend to be quit friendly, if fearful of the unfamiliar, and for good reason. Few thinking species could survive for as long as they have where they are.
- Grippli: Natives to the nation of Azyver, the Grippli are most often found within Tkannie, and while many leave to learn more of the world, most live in quiet seclusion, away from most others in small colonies, curating the land to their needs.
- Kashrishi: Kashiri tend to stay within the Shapeless empire, but tend to be found all across it. Their natural adaptability and penchant for psionics make them well suited to the empire, and many tend to be prolific members of the community.
- Kitsune: Natives to Tkannie, Kitsune are odd in that they are highly spread out and uncommon even in their home. This is due to Kitsune tradition of leaving their young in the hands of unknown communities. While in their homeland, this is because they are seen as akin to protector spirits, in other lands it has become a way to sneak their children in to existing communities so they may blend in.
- Kobold: Kobold tend to live almost exclusively within the land of dragons, and prefer to stay close to a dragons. This tends to mean that many stay far away from societies. Interestingly, kobolds see citizens of divine dragon kingdoms as kin, just kobolds of a different dragon.
- Lizardfolk: Lizardfolk live throughout, but the most well known are the desert Lizardfolk, who tend to live in Duat. Their number tend to be wealthy merchants there. However, outside these few, lizardfolk tend to have small, secluded groups that tend to travel.
- Nagaji: Common occupants of the land of Duat, and considered to be blessed in the eyes of the nation, the Nagaji tend to only leave as merchants or diplomats, much preferring the prestige within their homeland.
- Orc:
- Poppet: While Poppets can show up anywhere, Atlas's marrionette rites meant a lot of puppets, dolls, and other such things were usually from there. As such, many poppets hail from those lands, or were made by someone who was.
- Ratfolk:
- Shisk:
- Shooney:
- Strix: Strix tend to be from the mountains of the Kaer Sierra. Never ask one what they think of Astravia, unless you wish to hear all 100 expletives in their native language, half of which were made JUST for Astravian invaders.
- Tengu: A slightly distant cousin of Strix, Tengu tend to live between the mountains and Darkovia. This has given them a rather unique perceptive of the world, and they seem intent on expanding it. As such, while less common outside their homeland, you can usually find at least one or two in most places of interest.
- Vanara: Originating from the jungles within the Shapeless Empire, Vanara tend to enjoy traveling and meeting new people. However, usually they return, having head out in the first place to have glorious adventures and stories to tell. Expect them to be rather lively.
- Vishkanya: While native to the Sandsea, Vishkanya usually live nearly anywhere else. While seen as relatives to the Nagaji, their far more human form makes them distrusted. Many of Duat believe that Vishkanya are failed Nagaji, and not worthy of the deserts blessings.
