Elemental Magic

Also known as Aethric magic, Elemental magic primarily focuses on the souls ability to influence the nature of Aether itself, primarilly by shifting it's Attunement to the 6 basic elements. While most have an innate grasp on the fundamentals of it, trying to go more in depth is trickier then Essentia Magic.

Performing Elemental magic often puts some strain on the body at more extreme ends. For most elements, this can be done as long as you have sufficient endurance, and can allow one to extend their range of manipulation far beyond their own body. However, this becomes a bit more complex for the elements of Light and Dark. The war between Destiny Spirits and Doom Spirits causes said planes to be dangerous to atune too strongly to, given said beings reside primarilly within said planes. Attempting to use them as stated before would is a surefire way to have your soul directly destroyed in the crossfire, at least without focusing it heavilly through some form of protection.

For channeling Light and Dark elements, most have to use the power of faith, a pact with a seperate entity, or at the very least ground themselves with some form of oath. And even in these cases, it often isn't enough to allow the user full manipulation. Thus, usually the majority of powers from light and darkness is via essentia casting.

I heard Lucian Somnus developed one form of magic that can channel both, by wielding the powers of the stars as an armory of weapons. It doesn't QUITE work the same as normal, but it works! And his lineage still has an affinity for it...

It's also worth noting that for some reason, Earth in particular has been partially split into Metal and Wood, and said sub-elements can be attuned to seperately then Earth itself. It's unknown why this is the case, or why this phenomenon is unique to Earth.
