Excerpt from interveiw with Empress Ai No Miko

We are a nation of enchanters, crafters and mages. Yet unlike many places, we understand that the greatest creations are those we make together, in unity. We do not squabble to be the best, we work with our fellows to become something far greater then the sum of our parts.

Government

Most of the Governing is handled by myself, but is delegated among my most trusted aids. The Miko family has historically served this role, as we have an inherent strength of will and clear mind thanks to the blessings of the Kami.

As for who runs the districts, a sense of calm mind and reason is prized. Many of our leaders are used to the mindsets of philosophy, as it not only serves as a way to work with the positions of leadership, but also a reasoning our Kami kin find more logical, and understanding it makes it easier to translate our ideas. Loyalty is earned through reason and understanding, and questioning descisions is highly encouraged.

Defences

Our peoples unity and discipline are increadible, and nothing showcases this more then our Bushi. All of our main warriors are trained to work in tandem with a sentient weapon, at first one that will serve as their guide, then one to work alongside them. These Bushi wield Synergy Weapons, made with the souls of those who chose to live again in such a form, often former bushi or samurai who prefer to die in battle then to age or illness. Working in tandem with another being like this is a tricky skill to learn, but produces warriors with unparraleled focus and skill.

Many Foreigners tend to confuse Bushi with Samurai, as our community leaders are trained in the same arts to both protect those they would lead and to showcase their discipline. But Samurai is a social role, while Bushi is a warrior caste. I will hope adding that to the archives will help prevent such confusion later.

Infrastructure

As a nation of crafters, we have a very fine infrastucture, on par with the likes of our neighbors of the shapeless empire. However, despite our high level of technology, we are very careful not to interrupt the natural world, and work with the local nature spirits to find a careful balance. While certaintly a tricky and slow proccess, the results speak for themselves. We remain in harmony with the primal magics of the world, without costing us our inventive nature. In addition, we hold a deeper understanding of the impacts our every invention has, how each piece fits into the wider world, leading to them being far more reliable then most technology.

Assets

Our greatest resource is our creations, particularly enchanted items. Our relationships with beings of magic have let us more easilly learn the ways of enchanting, and allowed us to create the techniques of Synergy items and relics, among various other creations. Combined with considerable magitech knowledge, even if less then Neibolhiem, Allows us to create and sell items that are difficult to obtain anywhere else.

History

Like many nations, we were formed by a Somnus, and our family line is technically among the same branch. Her name was Ameterasu Somnus. But our founder took her wifes last name, thus starting th Miko family line.

Tourism

We are happy to have guests in our cities, as tradeing magical items and other goods tend to keep our econmy as strong as it is. We do, however, ask that people respect our traditions when they do, as the local Yokai are not merciful to those who would disrupt their habitats.

Yokai

Yokai are very common here. In other places, they may bear many similarities to the Fey, but it's best not to call them that. From what I understand, the two are seperated by a cultural divide, and the distinction is imporant to keep in mind. Much of our culture is about working in tandem with these beings, so please ensure you are polite to them should you meet them, and undestand they are not nearly as deceptive as their foreign cousins, as they are far more used to working with mortals.
