The Red Hound
One of the many mysterious and entirely singular beasts that are claimed to be found wandering the Greymantle wilds is one known as Rhuhura in Infernal, or Red Hound in Common, though a few refer to her as her supposed original name of "Yathira."
The creature has been described as a large canine with almost ruby-red fur, frightening intelligence, and varying accounts of spikes, horns, glowing eyes, and even flames. Most accounts agree that the creature seems Infernal or Abyssal in nature, but other than that, the identity and true nature of the creature has not been proven.
As unlikely as it is, the most favored story by far is that the Red Hound was once one of the highly intelligent and loyal crying hound kept by the Rangers Aeskethi. The story is that one of the rangers is absolutely certain that this creature is their own crying hound that had gone missing some weeks before the first sighting, claiming that the beast must have fallen through one of the planar "holes" that are said to exist in Greymantle, landed in the Infernal or Abyssal plane, and had gotten mutated through contact there before finding her way back to the Material plane.
The ranger claims to have seen recognition in the Red Hound's face when they attempted to make contact, but as the beast has apparently chosen to continue prowling the wilds on its own, this story cannot be relied upon as fact, no matter how insistent the ranger has been.
The beast has been both aggressive and ambivalent toward humanoids, (and a few even claim to have experienced benevolence from it,) but all witnesses have agreed that the creature seems to possess a high level of intelligence, even when indulging in chaos and violence. As of yet however, no one has claimed to be able to communicate with the creature, so its true nature and motivations remain a mystery.
