Personality & Motivations

Garrus comes across as a sensible, salt-of-the-earth young man, but his military background means he can quickly shift to serious when the situation demands it. He is deeply committed to doing what's right, even though he doesn’t impose that same standard on others. His sense of responsibility and reliability makes him someone others can trust when things get tough, but his own insecurities often stem from the burden he places on himself. He’s someone who will take care of others, even if it means sacrificing his own needs.   He’s often there to keep the group grounded. Garrus is deeply loyal and quietly compassionate, often showing his care through action rather than words. He can be stiff or awkward in emotional situations, but he’s trying to loosen up and be more open, especially around the party, who’ve slowly coaxed out his drier sense of humor.

History

Before the Game

A lingering relic from a time before the Spellplague, Garrus woke up with very few memories of his past or the events that led him to being imprisoned in the Lonely Hold. Some nine-hundred years after the event, he was freed again by Tekhetsio, and has spent the subsequent weeks in his care. For this, he feels he owes the young man a debt, even with Tek himself admitting that the rescue was more of an accident than anything.  

Campaign Events

He has been cursed with a crystalline form; his body appears to be made entirely out of purplish-grey iolite crystal, but he moves as though made of flesh. Tiny flecks of color refract through his skin when under direct light. Instead of bleeding, chips are taken out of his solid form and slowly smooth back over when healing. He has some of the physical characteristics of a tiefling (curled horns and a tail), but other features appear far more human.   With the help of the Circle of Vin'trys, he's regained a basic understanding of who he is and why he became a paladin of Ha'it hundreds of years ago.

  • Garrus is owed one free "anything" from Tek in exchange for guessing right about Gost's secret.
