Tzeg'Unathi

The Tzeg’Unathi are the most divergent of the Unathi. Tracing their origins back to the Tizegi Plateau of Moghes, a region comparable with Tibet, the Tzeg are a best described as a combination of lizard and wingless raptor traits. They have adapted to the cold, harsh, and elevated terrain by becoming warmer blooded (best described as lukewarm blooded), and by growing feathers on their most exposed parts, such as ankles, wrists, and chest.   The Tzeg are best suited for alpine conditions, with keen senses for use in snow and harsh weather. Their feathers are their most prominent feature, with thick protective feathers covering wherever a vein or artery runs close to the skin. These are typically grey or white, and considered to be warm and comfy protection on their front. Their rear feathers stretch from the top of their head, down their spine, and to the base of their tail. These feathers are less for protection, and more for aesthetic and reproductive purposes, like many species with feathers. These can come in a wide variety of natural colours, from reds to blues to greens. They are a distinctly lighter and brighter than Tzegi front feathers, and do not serve a protective purpose As of the modern day, some Tzeg opt to colour both their front and back feathers with dyes and patterns, often in vibrant or unnatural colours. Wherever the feathers do not cover, and even below them, the Tzeg are covered in scales, similar to other Unathi. They are softer at the front, and come in a variety of shades, typically white or grey, providing a natural camouflage.   In their homelands of Moghes, the largest Tzegi nation is the Tzeg'Katal, a federation of mountain states, cities, clans, and societies within the Tizegi Plateau. Many of these states differ in their political and economic beliefs, and despite a cultural unity, they are not always the best of friends. It is part of the greater Vasakkad Coalition.   Off-world, the Tzeg have joined many colonisation projects across Unathi space, and can be found nearly everywhere the Unathi have colonised. In particular, they have a very strong presence within the systems of Tzadat and Tzokis, arctic and geothermal worlds respectively. The Tzeg can be found within the Ashak'arrat, a state on the planet Tersten.
