Nybygger

The Nybygger are Human spacers from Sol, who in the mid-22nd century, left in three colony ships to settle a planet in the Mjolnir system. However, mid-way through the flight, it was discovered that their intended destination was not as habitable as previously thought, and the decision was made to convert their colony ships into multiple smaller permanent habitats, travelling from system to system, taking what they can, and trading for what they can't.
Often spending their time at the edges of planetary systems, scouting and colonising uninhabited systems, and occasionally venturing into occupied human space to trade and drink.  This is how many Nybygger end up in United Systems of Sol space, their colony ship having arrived at a port, and they either chose to stay at the port, or more likely, got too drunk and missed the shuttle back.    They are often admired for their brawn, and ability to handle much of the dangers of space living and working.
Their kind are often spiritualistic, placing their lives in the hands of various Gods and beliefs. It would be wrong to call them unscientific, as every Nybygger is a capable, and rational individual. Rather, their ancient Earther traditions and cultures have merged with their daily duties in maintaining the habitat, and while the average individual might not understand fully the importance of their tasks, they place great importance on them, for they are the duties of their ancestors.
