Katu

Katu is the third moon of Tepah, an ice giant located in the Katadda system. It is home to a population of around 85,000, and is a hub of mining activity in the Neutral Zone. Katu is governed by the Republic of Katu, an autocratic state with trading links to the Gilgamesh Confederation.
Historically, Katu was a colony of the Terran Commonwealth, starved of supplies during the Ares Conflict, and then eventually abandoned by Sol immediately after. This has severely affected relations between the Republic and Sol, something that the Gilgameshi are keen to take advantage of in the post-Gaia Conflict galaxy.

Geography

Katu has no atmosphere, and its inhabitants reside in large habitats built into craters and caves across the planetoid.  Many of these habitats are directly connected to the mining operations below the surface.  The largest settlement, Miranda, is located slightly north of the equator.
