Legendary Actions

Villain Actions: Note, these actions assume Balas is fighting the players within the Fort at Dorn's Fall. These actions may occur on a player's turn rather than Ballas's.

  • Round 1: Catch!
    • Balas begins his dance. It is as uncomfortable to watch as it is difficult to track.
    • As the players rush towards him, he suddenly pulls a rope, firing a spear from within the large tent behind him.
    • Spear: Launched (20/80), 1d6 (1d6), Dex Save 13
  • Round 2: Oh, got something in your eyes?
    • His movements across the battlefield were not without intent. He has lured the players into a trap.
    • As the player(s) move to him, he throws a dagger. It appears to be poorly thrown to the side of the player and into the dirt. In reality, he's aiming for a buried trap.
    • Blinding Gas/Dust: AoE, 5-10' Radius (DM's Discretion). Dex/Con Save 15. On failure, player(s) have disadvantage to attack until the end of their next turn.
  • Round 3: A change in the timing...
    • The flow of the fight suddenly changes, as Balas, for the first time in this fight, stands still.
    • And you begin to hear a tapping, repetitive, cadence.
    • Roll Insight or Perception
      • Balas begins to tap his daggers in time with the rhythm.
      • Insight DC 15: You see the color drain from his face. The percussive sounds have brought a hint of fear to his face.
      • Perception DC 15: You hear Balas say "I can do this myself. Please Master Koryphaios." There is a pause in the drumming, before it continues to pick up again.
    • Balas gets a 3rd Multi-attack.
  • Round 4: The insanity of movement
    • Balas's 3rd attack should not have been made.
    • The force is such that it provided extra damage. +2
    • The attack is from such an unexpected direction his bonus to hit is improved an additional +2
    • Coupled together, his arm is pulled out of socket, he grunts in pain, and Balas takes 2-5HP damage
  • Round 5: Becoming the puppet
    • Another damaging 3rd attack
    • Same bonuses above
    • However, the attack caused Balas to spin with such force that his own knee breaks, 5-10hp
    • At this, he screams in pain before his head bobs as he falls unconscious.... But he still stands.
      • This is the result of a unique spell of Koryphaios manifested in the tattoos of those within Morgath's Symphony.
      • He is called The Puppeteer for a reason.
  • Round 6: The Dance Macabre
    • From here on out, Balas does extra damage on all attacks as mentioned above.
    • However, his AC drops to 10
    • He appears to be held up on strings and his movements are even more unnerving.
