Void

General Description

Intro

Barely understood dimension that seems to be connected to Hyperspace, though its' also possible that it isn't actually connected or that it is in fact a part of it. Which pretty much shows how much is known about it.   Unlike Hyperspace, Void is even more surreal. Those that enter it consciously in most cases suffer an almost immediate and irreversible mental breakdown. According to dissections, even seeing the video feed of a Void is enough to make human brain break on biological level, with neurons undergoing seemingly random changes to their structure and connection. Which is believed to be a process in which human brain tries to cope with what it saw and probably decipher it.   Only about one per million sapient beings can enter the Void, see it in its raw form and return to tale the tale. With certain combination of rare genes (nobody really knows where they are from), strong willpower and mental stability being responsible for that. The problem is, that while they can go there to search for voidtechs... they still cannot describe what they saw there. Simply because it's too alien and surreal for them to be able to find proper words. What's more, they even have troubles describing what happened to themselves, since their memory gets rather cloudy.   There are certain common elements, like "a feeling of peace and harmony", "golden light", and "hearing voices" (that can be conversed with, but the void pilots never remember details but are almost universally sure of it being 'important', 'great', 'enlightening' and so on). They often remember themselves crying for what seemed to be hours (despite jump being instant, as time seems to not really exist in the Void) only to not remember the reason for it afterwards. Though it seems to happen equally often due to overwhelming happiness and sadness.   Despite the chosen void pilots being resistant to the effect of the Void, they aren't immune to them. The exact number of conscious jumps they can do varies between three to thirty, most however are finished about five or less. The insanity is different than this brought by Hyperspace. There is no agressiveness or paranoia, instead religious delusions, apathy (after several jumps real world seems to be bland to the point of sensory deprivation) and wish to return to the Void forever dominate.
