Short Range Weapons [SRW]

Short Range Weapons are subcategory of weapons used on board of starships that combine variety of technological basis, including this normally found among the Magnetic Acceleration Weaponry [MAW] and Energy Weapons [EW]. They are differentiated from the baseline weapons with their extreme firepower... and very limited range.   They are least widespread of all weapons for an obvious reason - not all battles end with enemies actually entering their range. On the other hand, ship with 10% of its gun slots filled with SRW will be capable of overpowering even numerically superior enemy if it actually manages to enter the ~200-300 thousand kilometres range. Since there are no armors and shields strong enough to withstand multiple hits from them.   Thus it is often encountered on board of capital ships, since they can be expected to actually survive enemy fire long enough for the SRW to actually become relevant. Its second usage are pirates, raiders and ship to explore anomalies - generally everything that is expected to fight mostly in Hyperspace. since ships fight there on a much smaller distances, meaning that even cruiser-size ships can hope to actually use them.
