Automatons are a race of mechanical humanoids that were created by the brilliant minds of The Tinkers Guild. They are built with a variety of different capabilities and functions, and can be found in all walks of life, from simple labor machines to highly advanced and specialized models that are capable of independent thought and decision-making.
Automatons are a race of mechanical humanoids that come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but all share certain traits as a result of their mechanical construction. They possess a core, an arcane-mechanical computer consisting of an adaptive punch card roll stored in an extradimensional box. This punch card roll can be nearly infinite in length and serves as the Automaton's primary method of storing and processing information. The central difference engine, located within the core, converts the punch card information into action and modifies the cards with new information, allowing Automatons to learn and adapt over time.
Automatons are immune to many of the frailties of organic life, such as disease and poison, but they still require maintenance and care in order to function properly. They can also be destroyed and rebuilt, with the cost and time required to do so varying depending on the complexity and capabilities of the automaton in question.
