Iktomi, the Deity of Poison

A large arachnid like being, born from the foul essence on what became to be known as _____, an island far to the east. It is said that all things poison and plague came from her, along with silk and thread.     Iktomi, the Deity of Poison, inhabited a large island to the east of ______ known as _____. The arachnid deity and her spawn had covered the entire forested island in beautiful webs, save for a single settlement. She had a terrifying appearance for many, but was actually rather kind to those around her. None of her spiderlings were allowed to harm the denizens of the settlement nor their livestock. And if one such should wander into her forest and get stuck or lost, they were to be freed and lead back to the path or town. It wasn’t until an odd dragonborn child kept returning to the forest that Iktomi personally had much to do with the village. The child would return daily to the same spot within the heart of the forest, bringing an offering each time. After about three weeks of this, Iktomi herself decided to speak with the child, though hidden at first. The child had, over the three weeks, begun to name the spiders they had met. Iktomi, curious, asked the child why they had named them. The child smiled, saying that it was because they were her family. This struck Iktomi as no one had ever considered her spiderlings family outside of one another and surely the child had family in the town. She came to learn, however, that the child was an orphan, their parents having abandoned them. Iktomi asked why the child wouldn’t stay in the town and be content. The child’s answer was that, at the time, bad people had come, and the child wanted her family to save them.   “So you come to my forest for aid, do you little one? To save those who have looked after you as one of their own?”   The child nodded, “They are nice. Not as nice as you though.”   Iktomi couldn’t help but laugh, “What if I were to grant you my power? And the support of my kin? Would you pledge eternal loyalty to me, child? To be forever by my side, undying.”   The child watched as the half spider, half enchanting woman appeared before them for the first time. They did not scream or run, but simply nodded and said yes.   “Then shall it be that my poison flows through you. Go, for we shall come to your aid.”   With that the young dragonborn girl named Raxen Naldrul was lead out of the forest as she always was. Later that evening Raxen made her way to where the bad people had made their home. They were loudly partying, destroying everything they could and torturing the townsfolk. One of the higher ups knocked Raxen down, calling her dragon filth. Raxen sat up and wiped the blood from the cut on her lip.   “Who the bloody hell do you think you are you damn lizard?!”   “I’m an orphan. One who this town took in, fed, and clothed.”   “So you’re just one big happy fucking family, eh?”   “No, they’re my friends. But my family is coming to help them.”   “Ha! You said you’re an orphan! Orphans don’t have families!”   “I do,” Raxen pointed over her shoulder.   “There’s no one there!”   “Oh yeah, you can’t see them. Blinky and Blue are invisible unless they want you to see them.”   “Blinky and Blue?” the guy cackled.   Raxen lifted her hand, “May Iktomi’s poison bring you pain and my family, death.”   A female voice echoed from behind Raxen as a giant figure appeared behind her, “Go my children.”   Two large spiders appeared on each side of Raxen as the large form of Iktomi came into view.   “Blinky, Blue, get him!”   Saint Raxen Naldrul, as she would come to be known, saved the town that night with her new family while also gaining new friends along the way. Together they built the temple of Iktomi in the forest and it became a refuge for orphans and wayward souls.
