The Count of Years

The years are counted from the traditional end of the last ice age.  On the first day of the year, the star Sothas is at the peak of heaven at midnight as seen from the sacred city of Nes-Ra.

The Months of the Year

Each month has 30 days, except Arna - a 5 day month of celebration in midwinter.
