Erathis

(a.k.a. "The Mother", "Founder", "The Judge")

Revered as the primary deity and mother of creation in ancient dwarven texts, Erathis is known among the people of the modern world as the Queen Builder. She’s seen as the giver of law, teaching the ancient world how to govern itself and become something greater. Courts and castles are often adorned with her symbology and tenants. Old dwarven stories claim that she birthed them into the mortal realm, teaching them to make homes so they would be safe from the world, and law so they could be safe from themselves. Erathis commands unity and co-operation. Disjointed efforts by individuals are less successful than those of a community or like-minded few.   Temples to Erathis also double as schools of law or architecture and are found in most major cities. Her followers learn how to spread her civilization to other places, and how to uphold it in their own lands. This includes claiming wilderness for cities, which can cause some clashing of ideals between her followers and those of Melora. Judges, chiefs, kings, and builders are her most devout followers. Craftsmen who work in her name often design new modes of transport or tools for building, in the name of spreading her societies. Her holiday in Frostmelt is a time when rulers address their people and law is given.   Her symbol is a gear, semi-circular in shape. It rests above doorways or the base of pillars.
