Biological parent of Kazuhiko Fujimoto; biological grandfather of Moriko Fujimoto.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Although he is overall in great health, he, like his son, also has osteoarthritis and has a herniated disk right now in his L-5 in his back. He also had kidney cancer and only has one working kidney now. Also had his appendix removed in his late twenties.

Has a scar from having his kidney removed and a scar from losing his appendix.
Specialized Equipment
Masaru walks with a red, ergonomic quad cane to help him walk most days.

After Moriko came out as asexual/aromantic, and later as pan-platonic, Masaru wanted to learn more about the identities in order to understand and learn more about his granddaughter. Turns out, Masaru is also on the asexual spectrum: he is cupiosexual! And he likes to encourage older people to explore their identities—gender or sexual. He does more of that online and has helped many of his friends explore their identities as well. In fact, he also helped Hoshi discover she is bisexual. Hm, I suspect being not straight runs in the family.
Education
Obtained his Ph.d in Japanese history in 1977 after writing this thesis on the Ashikaga Shogunate and its ultimate demise. Also has a bachelor's's degree in Japanese politics. He would have gone further but no one would take him on and allow him to write about Japan's hand in the Nanjing Massacre. He might be able to now but back in the 80s that was a no-go.
Employment
Retired professor from Shizuoka University. Occasionally returns as a guest lecturer and will talk about Japanese History and occasionally is allowed to talk about the Nanjing Massacre (but he still finds it difficult to find someone who will let him talk about it).
