Dry Deserts
For hydration is death

In The Split, the world became so unstable that it split into three parallel planes. In Growth, the world and its citizens evolved and grew rapidly, while those of Decay just as quickly found themsleves and their surroundings withering away. But in the realm of Stability, the people and the world were loath to change. Many qualities of the natural world stood just they did at The Split, and the traditions of the peoples stayed just as strong. This was true especially of the dry deserts and the dry elves who lived within.
The Dry Elves
I can barely remember... What did it taste like?At the time of The Split, any in Stability who were sufficiently dehydrated experienced a novel sensation: a lack of thirst. They did not think much of it, but it persisted. They never felt thirsty, and were not disrupted by chapping when their skin dried out. Over their first weeks, they did not think much of it, until news spread of another like them. On a challenge from friends, Grymg drank a cup of water. A strange hissing sound was said to be heard immediately after, followed by cries of pain from Grymg. The clothes she was wearing then started to become soaked, as any part of her body to come in contact with the water immediately evaporated. Her friends watched horrified as, in less than a minute, Grymg completely disappeared, leaving only soaked clothes and a cracked glass as remnants. Hers became the first of many stories to spread within that week, as other hapless beings succumbed to the same mistake, or else distrusting people living nearby attacked them as experiment. As panic spread, it became clear to the people termed "Dry Elves" that they needed to find a place without water in order to survive.
The Dry Deserts
As incidence from The Split, certain regions sufficiently devoid of water were also found to be without water. They were regions already seen as deserts, without bodies of water for many miles and very rarely seeing rainfall. At the advent of The Split, they stopped seeing rain altogether, and often had water brought in quickly evaporate from the heat. In the worldwide fleeing of the dry elves, news reached them of these deserts, and they thankfully flocked to them, establishing towns and cities in the heat, where no water-bearing being would ever dare travel.Geography

I enjoy how you have people being able to live without water. As important as the backstory is, I would have liked to have seen less of it and more about the desert and the dry elves.
I think I had less ideas for this than my other articles I was working on for summer camp. Still, I realize that I should have added more detail. Your advice has been noted for future competitions.
