Thuranian (Northmen)

Thuranians are the dominant Northmen culture, not just numerically but militarily and diplomatically as well; a necessity considering their position in the heartlands of Hebronia where they are surrounded by many potential enemies.

    Culture and cultural heritage

    Religion

Most Thuranians follow the Church of the Holy Trinity, specifically a sect called Marathianism. While many of the core tenets remain the same, one of the key differences is the canonization of mortal men and women to sainthood. A large minority still worship the Old Faith, though face varying degrees of marginalization. However, they are protected under the current ruler.

    Cuisine

Food and drink in Willamdorf is often influenced by their many neighbours, though often reserved for the nobles. Imported wines from Augries are popular in the south of the kingdom, as are domestic ones. Deep-fried pastries such as donuts, fritters and crêpes are very popular. From the north, food such as flat cakes were introduced and featured either fresh or baked fruits along with pastries with cheese fillings. Many varieties of beer and ale are brewed in Willamdorf.

    Shared customary codes and values

Thuranians are a highly collectivist people, a result of their central geographic position where they are surrounded by historical enemies. This isn't to say however that the triumphs of the individual aren't held in high esteem as even in small villages, there are statues dedicated to heroic men and women.

    Crime and Justice

Public disorder: Minor nuissances, i.e public drunkeness, are punished by forcing the accused to run a gauntlet of bemused onlookers throwing old vegetables at them.   Minor theft: I.e stealing from a food stall will land you in the stockades from anywhere between a few hours to a day. Crowds will be encouraged to throw vegetables.   Horse theft: Horse theft is punished by hanging until death.   Kin slaying: Defined as the murder of a blood relative. Murder of a parent, sibling or child are punished much more greatly.
