MYEYM YNT PRAERANT
A partial transcript of a oral poem. It claims that the Goddess NAGA was once a mortal, with the tale depicting how she bacame a KYIEOD and gained her first priest.
The poem introduces the characters:
- MAKMA - son of NAGA, a man so ugly he would wear a hood and mask when out in public.
- NAGA - the would be Goddess.
- TILA - a thief, who stole the mask of MAKMA, framing him for several crimes.
- MIGA - a lazy NOA who convicted MAKMA of crimes he didn't commit.
- BYKBA - corrupt priest of ABANY, who falsely envoked ABANYO LANWYMPLI LYOR to have NAGA sacrificed.
- ABANY - God of laws
- YBYA - Goddess of the wilds
- MAKMA leaves his hood and mask unattended after a night of drinking.
- TILA takes the mask, to disguise himself during a crime spree. He is never mentioned again in the poem.
- Victims report the crime to a KYDIIM, describing the mask as a notable feature.
- MAKMA is arrested and brought before MIGA, who quickly sentences him to death.
- NAGA in desperation steals MAKMA from his cell, they both run off into the wilds as fugitives.
- They both meet YBYA in the wilds, they explain their prescence in her domain, and beg for aid.
- YBYA is impressed with NAGA's fierce protective instincts, they are allowed to stay.
- NAGA becomes adept at using shadows to hide herself and her son from law-men.
- A year and a day passes, MAKMA and NAGA present themselves to the temple of ABANY for a retrial.
- The poet takes time to remind the audience of ABANYO KYKOBRYID.
- BYKBA looks over the case and can't find proof that MAKMA was under the mask. NAGA had even reported his mask stolen before the crimes took place.
- MAKMA is declared innocent of the crime.
- MIGA, who had been shamed by this finding attempts to bribe BYKBA to have NAGA punished.
- BYKBA, blessed by ARRIM, accepts a bribe. He claims that NAGA had committed a crime citing ABANYO LANWYMPLI LYOR.
- The poet informs the audience that this would not apply, as ABANY insists that it is the duty of all to disobey unjust laws.
- NAGA is sentenced to ritual sacrifice upon the altar of ABANY, to be carried out immediately.
- Upon her death she demanded recompense from ABANY for the injustice she endured.
- Her demand was backed by the might of YBYA who had technically adopted her a year ago.
- To acknowledge the injustice committed against her by his own priests he adopts her, raising her to a KYIEOD, tasked with enforcing justice.
- The stones of ABANY's temple, drenched in her mortal blood, turned black and became shadowed.
- BYKBA and his servants are chased out, the temple is no longer their domain.
- A new Goddess, NAGA, is born.
- MAKMA falls to his knees before his now divine mother.
- His hood and mask returned to him, he becomes the first priest of NAGA.
- What once was a mark of shame is now a symbol of respect.
