Nation - Gurrian

Home of Druids. While druids make up the majority of the population, residents are not required to be druids. However they must have a blood relation to a druid.   National Language: Druidic
  • Common is well known in this region. The nation is widely populated by different races and there are many languages spoken in communities.
  •   Official Religion: None
  • All faiths are permitted as long as their practices do not upset the natural harmony of the nation. Faith is not punished, only actions that harm the wellbeing of others.
  •   Capitol: Namtuu
  • Gathering place of the council of five who run the nation.
  •   Inspiration: The plains of the Midwest, Northwest forests, and East coast beaches.     Gurrian is rich with magical energies and artifacts. As artifacts are discovered they are taken to the museum in Namtuu for them to be stored.

    Structure

The nation is run by a council of 5 druids.   The current 5 counselors are:
  • Yanawae Hillston (Aaracokra, female (she/her) , 23 years old, 10 years in office)
  • Tyler Goodman (Human, male (he/him), 40 years old, 2 years in office)
  • Kepli Root (Tabaxi, male (he/they), 37 years old, 7 years in office)
  • Roland Sir (Half elf, male (he/him), 25 years old, 1 year in office)
  • Jinessa "Jin" Highmoon (Elf, nonbinary (they/he), 131 years old, 90 years in office)
  •     These 5 counselors are in charge of all the nation's residents. They give out papers to the residents, which are required to be held by all citizens to be permanent residents. These papers are renewed every 5 years.   Guests and adventurers who enter the nation are not required to have papers, but they are not permitted to stay within a singular community longer than seven days. Any further than that and they are seen to be attempting to gain permanent residency. If they do not apply for papers they are in violation of the nations laws and will be forced to leave by the community. Any community found to be housing a paperless resident will be forced to disband and be separated into different communities.

    Culture

Natural purity is a high priority of Gurrian residents.    There are only 3 established towns with permanent buildings, and these are maintained by Counselor Jin.    All other communities live in tents woven out of tall grass and vines; these communities never pass 100 residents. These communities are nomadic and travel between four chosen locations. One for each season. Many communities have the forest to the Southwest as their home for the winter, and the beaches for summer.    The people of Gurrian are known to be hardworking and dedicated to natural harmony. They try not to take more than necessary and ensure the land can rest with their nomadic movements. They are not a technologically advanced people, and this is by choice not by ignorance of the outside world. Many of their people are world travelers who learn and grow, and along the way often find more druids and offer them community in Gurrian.

    Assets

Livestock. Many communities raise cattle during 3 seasons, and during summe,r when they move to the beaches, they take a portion of their stock and send them abroad.    The cattle from Gurrian are considered to be high quality and fetch a high price at markets. Only the richest of men can afford cuts of these cattle; they are a sign of wealth often showcased at dinner parties and charity events in other nations.

    History

Gurrian was founded in the beginning. It was one of the first nations the deities stepped on and their magical energies allowed the plants to thrive in the early formation of Hexadiv.   It wasn't until the year 105 that it was recognized as a home for druids and the foundations of the nation began to form; the counsel came soon after.

    Military

There is no organized military.    Communities do have members whose jobs are to keep watch and defend against danger.

    Technological Level

The few cities that are established have no power; they utilize fires and candles to keep their streets lit.    All transportation is done via horse riding and carriages; they have explicitly denied motorcars and trains for fear of their environmental consequences.

    Religion

All religious expressions are permitted in Gurrian.   The only restriction is that practices/actions of their faith cannot endanger the natural wellbeing of the land or its people. If their religious activities become an issue for the wider group, they are often banished from their community or their papers may even be revoked by the counsel and they will be forced to leave.

    Education

Education is handled by the community. Their main focuses are agricultural skills that add to the communities productivity and longevity.    Most children are taught to read and write in a basic capacity, but all children learn to speak multiple languages. Some children, if they live in a diverse community, can learn up to seven languages before their 15th birthday.
