Nation - Cirx

Home of Gnomes.   National Language: Gnomish
  • Common is well known as it is a required second language for all educators.
  •   Official Religion: Sun Goddess
  • Lun is popular among educators. Starz worship allowed. Demonic religion is banned and punishable under law.
  •   Capitol: Lyerin
  • The only above ground city in the desert.
  •   Inspiration: That one desert episode from Avatar, the Shire, the Wizard of Oz, and the 7 dwarves.     Cirx is made up of the desert and grasslands on the same continent as Vibrum. The desert is where deep gnomes live. They thrive underground, working in mines to harvest minerals and gems. The capital city is the only place that is above ground in this desert, so it looks deserted otherwise. The grasslands is where gnomes build burrows and live in smaller communities above ground. Their focus is on knowledge and education, many become teachers and tutors and leave their country to educate other nation's children.   Lyerin's main purpose is to intake visitors and adventurers. There, these travelers will be provided with maps and resources so that they can find cities and traverse the desert until they reach the grasslands.   The capital city is the only official entry point of the nation. People who attempt to wander through the desert or try to breach the land other ways are either overtaken by the elements or by the Guard.   An official visa is required to enter this nation. One can be procured at entry at Lyerin (still a change you can be denied, so it'd be a waste of a trip), Cirx embassy, or at an official court house at point of origin with Cirx representation.

    Structure

Cirx is run by a patriarchal monarchy. The title of king is passed down through generations of sons.   The current king is Theodore Rushworth the 35th.   The Rushworth family has been in power since the beginning. The Sun Goddess appointed the first Theodore to maintain the land and protect it.   On the 100th year of the world, the Rushworth family was cursed by the demons to only give birth to sons and to only live for 50 years.   The castle for the Rushworth family is underground on the border between the desert and the grasslands.

    Culture

Hard work and intelligence are the two most respected aspects in Cirx.    It is common for many gnomes to be in school till the age of 50, many who seek higher education continue into their 100s.    Those who do not pursue higher education enter into the work force as quickly as they can.    Cirx citizens are known to be very generous. They reach out to other countries and communities to lend their services in manual labor and teaching.   They are polite and courteous. They will not say a bad word against you, unless they are behind closed doors. Gossip is whispered, and anonymous reports are often made to the guard.

    Assets

Cirx is rich with minerals and gems.

    History

Cirx has existed since the beginning. It consists of the desert and grassland regions of a landmass that borders against the country of Vibrum. The Sun Goddess placed the gnomes there personally, entrusting their protection to the first Theodore Rushworth.   Even after the curse was placed on the Rushworth family (in 100 AC), the country stayed strong and continues to be the strong nation it has always been.

    Military

The Guard is an organization that randomly drafts individuals every 10 years. A person will serve for 5 years and will be eligible to be chosen again in another 10 years, if they serve 5 times they are eligible to request their name be taken out of the draft. After a person's first draft, they also have the option to enlist and remain a permeant member of the Guard.   The Guard work mainly as security to protect their borders. They also perform civil duties in cities and burrows, acting not only as protection but productive members of society.   The Guard wear blue cloth uniforms with gold plated armor on top, they wear tall hats with golden feathers coming out of them so they can be spotted at all times.   Cirx has a bond with Vibrum where if one country is attacked the other will come to their aid, as they share a border and a continent.

    Technological Level

Cirx is known to be behind in the times. While their knowledge cannot be dismissed, their acceptance of new advancements are limited.   King Rushworth does not see the advancements of gas and steam power to be necessary in their work, as his people have always been hearty and have never needed assistance before.

    Religion

The official religion is to the Sun Goddess, though many scholars follow Lun, and many others follow Starz.   Demonic religion is forbidden. Those found to worship them can be banished or put to death.

    Foreign Relations

Cirx has strong ties to most nations. Their gems are widely popular, and their teachers are held in high regard. Their weakest ties are with Drasta, and  their strongest with Qwiv.

    Trade & Transport

While Cirx has no official fleet of their own, they work with many private businesses who will transport goods for them.

    Education

Education is paramount. It is standard for Gnomes in Cirx to get 50 years of education, and then they can move onto more advanced programs. However 50 years is all that is required to become a teacher.    They are taught in all core subjects, and have physical activity and art electives.
