In many areas of the Underdark, the Drow Elves, in their innumerable tribes and clans, engage in their own curious and deadly brands of subterfuge against each other. The Drow are mad for power and dominance, led by Priestesses whose cruelty knows no limit.

The Drow are known in the Underdark for their dealings with the Abyss. Their hunger for power draws on the horrid energy of Lolth, the Demon Queen of Spiders. Spiders are a theme among the Drow, and they sometimes keep them as pets or familiars. (And there are Spiders in the Underdark--some of them--that keep the Drow in just the same way!)

Portals from the Underdark to the Abyss are forged by some Priestesses, the better to access the powers of Lolth. Shula'sal-eth, the Drow goddess of storms and lightning, also holds sway over many Drow minds and souls, and he power can also be drawn upon through these portals.

Sula'sal-eth and Lolth both wish to extend their power over the material world, and there are horrid minions that move through Drow portals to reach these places. When the minions have had their fill, it is said that the demoness may even emerge herself to finalize the destruction and feast.
