Rules of Succession

The Rules of Succession are a quasi-constitutional law that dictate the rules for the order of succession in the event that the Office of El Presidente becomes vacant.   As the rules have been revised numerous times since their original inception in 1956, only the current revision is listed. Rules that have been striken appear for the sake of completion as their last revision.
The Rules of Succession for the Republic of Lingor are set as such:
0. Direct appointment takes precedence over the following rules;
1. In the event of a vacancy, the Office of El Presidente is to be filled as soon as able.
2. The Office, in case of a vacancy, will temporarily be filled by the highest ranking member of the Military Police, until a successor is confirmed by the National Court.
3. The President may appoint anyone, regardless of sex, nationality or race.
4. A person eligible for the Office may refuse the confirmation, in which case the priority is passed down.
5. The Order of Succession is as follows:
6. #1 The Ambassador General
7. #2 The Head of the Ministry for Internal Politics
8. #3 The Defense Minister
9. #4 Elected Representative by the Ministers
10. #5 Elected Representative of the Lingor Armed Forces Joint Chief of Staff
11. If no successor has been accepted or approved at this point, the line of succession continues down the internal ministries by seniority.
12. If no successor has been accepted or approved after ministers, the line of succession continues down the Chief of Staffs of the Armed Forces by seniority.
13. Finally, if that fails to produce a successor to the office, the most senior member of the National Court must temporarily fill the office and appoint a successor.
14. Additionally, should this fail after three appointments, a governmental conclave must be called, in which the president is elected from among all ministers, members of the National Court and LAF Joint Chiefs of Staff.
15. A President elected by the conclave must not refuse the appointment and serve the term with the following restrictions.
15.1. They may not resign from the Office before appointing a successor. That successor must be confirmed before the resignation is accepted.
15.2. Should the Office vacate due to death, the National Court must judge if enough personnel have been replaced.
15.2.1. Should they conclude, that the outcome of a triggered succession would be sufficiently similar to the conditions before the conclave, they may immediately trigger another conclave.
15.2.2. Should they conclude, that the outcome would be reasonably different, they may trigger the process of succession according to the rules.
