Mahna Ti
Mahna Ti (a.k.a. T)
Ti grew up with her firbolg parents on their homestead in the southern woods of the Zurian empire. Her parents left Neprivion about a century ago with their two oldest children. Ti and her five younger siblings were born in Lindorwyn and raised by two happy parents to revere Ahra, the Queen of Summer.
Ti stayed at home until she was about 50, hesitant to leave her family in spite of their encouragement that she should pursue her life to the fullest where she could be happiest. Ti was the first to leave home, but two of her younger siblings followed her example in the decades after her departure (Trah and Frhet- Ti hasn’t kept up with what they’re getting into).
She started by traveling to the Shrined City where she got conned out of most of the assets she brought with her and ended up working as a sous chef/bouncer/janitor/foot-runner for The Old Chum, a tavern near the port, where she LOST money because her room, board, uniform, and work equipment were deducted from her weekly earnings up front.
After working at The Old Chum for two seasons, and clearing all but five gold of her debt, she met the kindly crew of the merchant ship Lasalle, who, after sending her on multiple silly, harmless errands for a laugh, got to know her situation a bit and took pity on her. The Lasalle’s cook had recently left the crew due to irreconcilable differences with the first mate, and Ti had learned enough to fill the role. The boatswain, Chet, procured the funds needed to pay her small debt, put her in new clothes and shoes, and purchase a hammock large enough for her 9-foot frame.
In her three years on the Lasalle, the crew taught Ti to gamble, drink, and brawl. Most treated her like a clever pet or mascot, but she didn’t notice or mind. Captain Acab lost interest in Ti after a conversation after he figured out she’d never actually been to Neprivion; he was a reasonable captain who was only really mean when the crew found themselves in a pinch or a stupid altercation. The route of the Lasalle was consistently a round between The Shrined City, Thigrove, and Castier (with occasional detours to Machy).
Ti made three close friends on the Lasalle:
Billiam the Bird-Guy (seagull conglomerate): three seagulls visited the ship and seemed always to stick together. Ti convinced them to work in the kitchen with her for bread. They were able to fetch smaller ingredients, ring the dinner bell, peck snack-sneakers, and provide company. Eventually a few of the crew cajoled the three of them into a halfling coat and named them Billiam.
Peglin the Peg-legged (half-elf): Peg had been with Acab since before he became captain of the Lasalle. When he lost his leg, the Captain refused to put him out. He was still able to do a small share of the repair work on board and often found himself with other small tasks in the kitchen. Peglin taught Ti what he knew about sailing in case she ever needed to help on deck and everything he knew about sailors so she could survive unsupervised in port towns or find work on a new ship if the time ever came.
Chet Cameron (human): Chet ended up becoming Ti’s best friend. They would catch the sunrise and sunset together every day they could to share ship’s gossip. Chet was a positive guy who loved making jokes and knew how to joke so Ti could always keep up with him. Chet was saving up money to stop sailing and start a small farm with his childhood sweetheart, so Ti told him what she could remember about cultivating food, at least in the forestlands she was raised in. Ti considered Chet to be better and closer than a brother, and she would sometimes lay awake at night worrying about when Chet left the ship.
During the Aurora four years into her service to the Lasalle, the ship capsized in the night when most aboard were asleep: the first the sailors heard was “Abandon Ship!” and Ti followed instructions. In spite of the tumultuous seas, the brilliant arcane lights allowed Ti to find and aid Peglin, but when they finally washed ashore, they were the only survivors to make it to the beach besides Billiam. Peglin and Ti walked the beach for hours looking for the Captain and Chet, hoping to find any others in the process. They never did.
After admitting defeat and travelling south to Caister, Peglin parted ways with Ti at the port, confident he’d taught her enough to get on. She doesn’t know what happened to him after that. She worked two more ships on that route over the next decade, but Ti never stopped being saddened by the familiar sites she used to share with Chet.
She went back home for a few years but discovered that, at home, she just missed both Chet AND the Sea. So she has departed for Zhinas in hopes of finding a new ship with a new route to new adventures and memories with new people.

Handy ship's carpenter for hire. Also good in a fight. Will travel anywhere.
