A list of every being I have ever loved

A list written by the traveler Louis Allen, detailing the lovers he had on his travels across Jemine, Elarquie, and Avelous, spanning over 22 years. He wrote it at the request of his son Juno, the fruit of one of these love affairs. Juno took this list and set off on the same route his father had taken all those years ago, trying to find every person listed, offering services to everyone along the way.

The letter supplies the name and species of the lover, as well as the location where Louis had met them. He then lists anything of note of that particular person.

Historical Details

Background

Louis was a privileged man, being the son of a wealthy merchant. As a boy, he became enamoured with pleasure and enjoyment, and, believing that it was all he needed, embarked on his travels, drinking and partying and making love at every city and town and everything in between he visited. He never stayed for more than a few months, leaving at least one lover behind. This hedonistic lifestyle went on for 14 years.

In many cases, Louis also left behind a child. One of such children was Juno, the half-elf son of Louis and New Karresian elf Mave. Mave raised Juno through much hardship, and she wrote many letters to Louis talking about their son. One day, only three years in the past, Louis decided to pay a visit.

He told Juno that he wanted to get to know him, but Juno wanted nothing of it. He pointed out that Louis had been living only for his own pleasure and not thinking of others, especially all the struggles of the other children he had sired.

"Do you even remember the others?" he demanded. "The names of the other lives you dipped in and out of? The names of the hearts you've broken?"

Louis insisted that he remembered the name of every lover he had ever had. So Juno had asked for the list.
