Hapaziidah

"Hapaziidah is a very tight-knit city, I'll say that much. Everyone there either knows each other or are related to each other, and it's, frankly, a bit difficult to tell which it is."

Demographics

Hapaziidah is a primarily orcish and half-orcish citadel, with the latter being mostly children living with their orcish parents. The few non-orcish folk that come seeking business opportunities are usually those already somewhat familiar with orcish culture and customs.

Government

Hapaziidah is overseen by the Chieftain of the dominant tribe. These days it's the Thundercrack tribe, with their leader Zhurzoll the Protective, but over the years the dominant tribe has changed.

Defences

The "great hall" of Hapaziidah, consisting of a very large domelike structure fortified with wood and bone, is well-defensible from weather and raiders. Of course, that's if Hapaziidah's warriors don't stop them first.

Industry & Trade

Hapaziidah (and the fertile areas of Votara as a whole) have large groves of fruit and such that they trade with mainland Nobliya, along with art and palm oil, which they farm themselves.

Guilds and Factions

Votara has eleven distinct tribes that oversee the island and its many scattered villages and citadels, including Hapaziidah. The tribe names are Thundercrack, Brightshine, Flameforger, Rockbreaker, Trickmurk, Crystalhide, Greenskeeper, Rotriot, Mistmaker, Wavecrest, and Starfall. Each has its own distinct styling, united by two things - a strong sense of family, and a strong sense of personal honor brought on by combatative victories.

History

Hapaziidah is among the oldest settlements on Votara, the only older one is Zaja itself, at the base of the volcano. It's survived through the conquest of the ancient dragons who carved out Capitel Sottgen in the early 100s, through the blitz expansion of Nobliya in the 300s, and through Halruaa's attempted invasion of the south coast of Ziemia in 467. Hapaziidah's age reflects the age of orckind in Votara. Orc culture is nearly as old as elf culture, despite the disparate lifespans of the two.   When the Nobliyan Civil War broke out, Hapaziidah kept to itself, sealing off trade with Nobliya entirely. This also gave them a chance to establish trade with Capitel Sottgen, which is where a lot of orcs looking to branch out immigrated to.   When the war came to a standstill, Hapaziidah opened up again, but Estel didn't really trade out as it was recovering. Hapaziidah was fine with this. The citadel was in its prime, woven together by honor and industry. People were still allowed to move between the countries and even live there permanently, but Hapaziidah and Votara as a whole didn't need Nobliya anymore, as it seized the wartime to grow and thrive.

Tourism

There isn't a lot of available tourism, as most of the natural wonders that would have attracted folks are closed off, as they're sacred sites for the Votaran tribes. The citadel itself is rather interesting, if you're an architecture buff. There's some murals and carvings kept in caves that, if you got permission from the head of tribe, you could visit and examine (gently).

Architecture

The architecture is, obviously, orcish, but what's interesting is how while most of the villages in the inland of Votara have stayed the same in terms of materials, Hapaziidah has taken advantage of modern wonders and enhanced their own styles with it. It leads to a gorgeous "fusion" of old styles with new materials.

Geography

Votara is a volcanic island with a tropical climate. The rocks are igneous if that means anything. Hapaziidah is built within a lush rainforest just inland, past the beach.

Natural Resources

Palm wood, palm oil, tropical fruits and even such delicacies as vanilla orchids are grown here.
