Sitara, Queen of the Underworld
Said to be the daughter of Denryas and Fenganya, Sitara would become the wife of Vateos after her excursion into the underworld. Stories state that as she had matured into an adult, she was overtaken with a curiosity of travel, and so she wandered the realms to satiate that curiosity. Eventually, her wandering brought her to the last destination she could reach; the realm of the dead, and into the presence of Vateos. She sat before him, causing the dead about her to fall silent as she asked Vateos question after question. Admiring her curiosity, Vateos answered her and the two talked, and talked, and talked. She asked to stay with Vateos, so she might speak a little longer, and he obliged, and thus she remained. At some point in this time, the two wed, and Sitara became queen of the underworld. She is revered by midwifes, mystery lovers, and those who revere the dead.
Sitara is often depicted as a Centaur with an ashen hide, or a iridescent skeleton, wrapped in a black cloak.

All worshippers of Sitara carry a symbol carved from bone, to take the shape of a skeletal hand holding an iridescent key; Some worshippers have been known to use a full skeletal hand, treated in a form of oil, holding an iron key. The priests of Sitara will often dress in white, with sashes of iridescent material, sometimes covered in bones of the fallen.
Tenets of Faith
- Be kind unto others
- Treat the dead with the respect you would expect to receive
- All are equal in Dread Sitara’s eyes, for Death is a release, not a punishment.
- Stand against those that would artificially prolong their life beyond natural limits, such as the undead.
Holidays
The Day of the Departed – 40th of Eskios
The last day of Eskios, and the last true month before Krasios, is a time of great reverance. This moment is used to pray to those that had departed through the year, and give offerings to Dread Sitara in the hope that they will be merciful to them when their time comes. This is normally a somber day, where people wear nothing but black and keep their head down in mournful prayer.
