Alloy of Destiny
Alloy of Destiny is a private organization not tied to any specific location. It was founded around 200 years ago by Maxime Poliné and Jocelin Rembug to investigate a crime that, for legal or practical reasons, the authorities could not pursue. Following the death of Maxime, Jocelin retired, and Assim Bassid became the new leader.
Today, Alloy of Destiny operates as a vast network of private investigators specializing in the resolution of mysteries, scientific enigmas, and inexplicable phenomena. With a well-defined structure, its members work clandestinely and often adopt fake identities to safeguard their private lives and missions.
The organization is made up of members from various disciplines, including scientists, historians, and engineers, among others.
The leader of the organization, known as The Weaver, oversees all operations. They are assisted by a council called The Blacksmiths, who supervise investigations and ensure that the organization runs smoothly. Each Blacksmith is responsible for managing one of the organization’s many specialized factions.

Culture
Fundamental Beliefs
The Pursuit of Absolute Truth
Alloy of Destiny is centered on the relentless pursuit of truth, regardless of social, moral, or legal conventions. Truth is regarded as the key to understanding the world and unraveling secrets that threaten the natural order. Deception, manipulation, and lies are considered necessary techniques to achieve a greater good: knowledge.
Personal Sacrifice for the Greater Good
Members of the organization are willing to sacrifice their privacy, safety, and even their lives to solve cases and protect society. This is reflected in a culture of teamwork, where the common good takes precedence over individual needs. Members accept this as an unyielding obligation to uncover the truth.
Acceptance of the Unexplainable
As investigators of unknown and sometimes unintelligible phenomena, the culture of Alloy of Destiny fosters an open mindset toward the unexplainable. While they strive to find logical and reasonable answers, they are prepared to accept that some things may go beyond what science can comprehend.
Customs and Rituals
The Ritual of Case Presentation
When an important case is brought before the organization, a secret meeting called The Fire of Truth is convened. Members presenting the case must do so meticulously and with thorough documentation, almost as if performing a ceremony. This presentation is followed by a period of discussion and analysis, where every detail is examined exhaustively.
The Commitment to Secrecy
The oath of secrecy is a cornerstone of the culture. When a member joins Alloy of Destiny, they take a solemn vow to uphold the organization's secrets and those of the cases they work on. Members see this not only as a matter of confidentiality but also as a responsibility to their peers and their work.
Social Aspects
Values of Honesty and Loyalty
Despite their secretive nature, members place great value on loyalty and honesty among themselves. Mutual trust is essential, as every member relies on others to solve cases and maintain order within the organization.
Recognition of Death
Death is a recurring theme within Alloy of Destiny, especially as some members have sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of truth. In honor of these members, the organization observes The Day of Shadows, an annual day dedicated to remembering the fallen.
Public Agenda
The Alloy of Destiny presents itself as a network of independent consultants and advisors committed to solving challenging and unconventional problems. Their stated mission is to assist individuals, organizations, and governments in understanding and addressing complex mysteries, particularly those beyond the reach of traditional institutions.

History
Approximately 200 years ago, the Alloy of Destiny emerged as a response to a pressing need. It all began in the city of Ornash, an important industrial and mercantile hub. At the time, a serial killer was terrorizing the population, targeting working-class women with brutal and methodical precision. Despite the growing fear, the local police were unable to continue their investigation due to legal and political constraints.
Two brilliant women from vastly different backgrounds decided to take matters into their own hands:
- Maxime Poliné, a former scientific investigator with a strong sense of justice.
- Jocelin Rembug, a civil rights lawyer with a sharp mind for deduction and persuasion.
Together, they formed an unlikely partnership, pooling their skills and resources to pursue the case. Using an improvised network of contacts, meticulous research, and relentless determination, they uncovered leads the police had overlooked or were unable to follow. After months of clandestine investigation, they managed to identify and capture the killer, exposing a broader conspiracy of corruption involving influential figures in the city.
This success cemented their reputation and laid the foundation for what would become the Alloy of Destiny. Their initial mission was clear: to solve cases that the authorities could not (or would not) investigate, whether due to legal restrictions, lack of resources, or political pressures.
Over time, the organization grew, developing a formal structure and recruiting experts from various fields. However, their journey was not without hardship. The mysterious death of Maxime Poliné dealt a heavy blow to the organization, and shortly after, Jocelin Rembug retired from leadership. The mantle then passed to Assim Bassid, who transformed the Alloy of Destiny into a more clandestine and sophisticated network, adapting to the challenges and dangers of the changing world.
Today, the Alloy of Destiny remains true to its founding principles: to pursue truth at any cost, protect those who cannot defend themselves, and confront the inexplicable with courage and intellect.
