Spirit

This is a broad classification of possibly hundreds of unique and different species. These are general observations and do not necessarily apply to all forms of spirit. There are spirits essentially all over the world, tied deeply to their regional cultures, whether creatures like Kitsunes or less distinct weather spirits.   These creatures can be easily confused for other supernaturals. A Kitsune may be misattributed as a form of Lycanthrope. Weather spirits may be mistaken for gods or demigods. They may look similar and have some overlapping abilities, in some cases these similarities are exploited to mislead their enemies and allies alike.   So, what is a spirit exactly?   Spirits are magical creatures. They are not purely biological entities. Their physical form is almost entirely the result of magic. In that sense, they are a spirit first and a living creature second. For most, this grants them a measure of shapeshifting. They have some measure of power over their form. A weather spirit may choose to have a physical manifestation or to be a cloud of energy floating in the air (most spirits cannot become airborne).   In many cultures, they have become integrated into mythology. Feared as demons. Revered as gods or messengers of the gods. Some have learned to feed on the energy of the humans who worship them. Others just fake it to take on a position of power. Their presence has shaped human beliefs from the very beginning.   Finding a Spirit
Conservation Status
The presence of spirits at large has been in decline over the past few centuries. Humanity has hunted some to extinction, while changes in popular belief, mythology, and religion have driven others to the brink of extinction as their places in society have been eradicated.
