Lord Micheal's Crystal

The Crystal is an ancient artifact, sought after by all Vampires for thousands of years. It was believed to be nothing more than a myth. Historical sightings have placed it at numerous disasters. Some believe it caused the eruption at Pompeii. Others blame it for the Black Death. The exact make up and function of the crystal is hard to pin down among all of the myths and legends about it.
Angelo is considered an expert on the crystal. Despite his many failings, he is perhaps the vampire who's come closest to obtaining the crystal. His research has determined at the very least, the crystal was created. It was used at least once, when its creator first touched it. It was not without cost. Any spell cast using the crystal will exact a significant toll, sacrifices, human sacrifices. The hunger is not unjustified.
The Crystal's core purpose, is to control the Earth and Natural World. It's not a small-scale act. The crystal will change the nature of the world, remaking it within mere minutes. Nature does not look kindly on forced change, hence the significant cost.
