Granny

(a.k.a. Granny)

The oldest of the werewolves. She has a sharp wit, a short temper, and at her old age, she's mainly interested in doing whatever the hell she wants at any given moment. What does she want to do? Eat ice cream, spoil the pack (which she sees as her kids and grandkids), and watch her afternoon shows. She's tough as nails and has no problem expressing her opinions, occasionally through wild stories. There isn't a lot known of her life or her exploits. If any of her stories are true, she's at least 300 years old.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Granny is a short old woman. She walks with a bit of a hunch to her back. The centuries have caught up with her. Her skin's wrinkled all over, she has a few liverspots here and there. She walks with a cane or a walker, mood dependent. Her walker is all metal, has two front wheels, and clicks when she moves, the adjustment on it is very lose. Technically she can move without the walker, but it can make her sore. Her hair's grown long and gray. Most of the time, she's dressed in typical old-lady clothes. She's particularly fond of sweatpants and big sweaters with canines and text about her grandkids on them.   Her wolf form is rarely seen. On the full moons, she tends to remain indoors and shift in a small room. Even as a wolf, her age has caught up with her. The transformations are more painful and disruptive than in the others. She often dreads it both ways. If not for caring about the others, she would probably remain a wolf full time, disappear into the woods, as many elderly wolves have been known to do.   She's small as a wolf, her fur a bit messy and gray. She's more comparable to a regular wolf when she shifts than a werewolf. Her body, the magic in her, struggles to live up to the legendary form of the other werewolves. She's old and almost peaceful now.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Only the broadest outlines of Granny's past are known. They rise up in tidbits that she shares, usually a bit of her smartass nature surfacing and being used against someone. She once stated, "I was old when General Lee's great great grandpa was still in diapers!". If this is true, we can figure she was born in the 1700s at some point. It's the oldest thing she's said about her age.   At some point in the 1700s, she was bitten. She talks rather fondly of those days, her future husband turned her, it was a willing encounter. She wanted to be with him always, to be close at his side, and to live life as he did, regardless of the cost or impact it would have on herself. For love, she became a wolf. To hear her describe it, it was both an immense undertaking and nothing at the same time. "Being bitten was much harder in my day, you couldn't spend a week sleeping around, we had to get back at our lives, grab this by the horns." A real 'pull yourself up by the bootstraps' attitude.   During the Civil War, the pack assisted the underground railroad. There were wolves of all races/origins within the pack as it was. When they came across someone in need, they hid them, escorted them through the woods, heading north. Some of the tunnels connected to the Safehouse are believed to have their origins in this early movement. They may also have been used for smuggling operations. The pack would pass of their escortees somewhere in the middle of the state. They tried to travel through New York City once, but that only lead to a lot of dead cops. A much quieter Granny acted in a role much akin to Ellie in those days. She would move ahead, clear the way, distracted, and mislead anyone looking for their friends.   During the great depression years, decades later, Granny and several others moved farther into the wilderness northwest of the city. Times were tough and it was easier to survive off the land. When World War II came, her husband left to fight. He'd been drafted and there was no dodging it. Unfortunately, he wouldn't return from the war. It didn't help her mental condition much.   As the 1900s wore on, Granny's healing abilities began to fade and she aged more rapidly. Her long years of life started to catch up to her. She became more of a matriachal figure in the pack. Her adopted son lead the pack for a few decades before he went mad in the coup of the 2010s. She's taken to caring for the others more as kids and grandkids in the years since, her only remaining family.

Education

There are no records of Granny's education. It's believed that she never attended significant formal schooling. During the Civil War, she was trained as a nurse, though this was more of a trade than anything significant. The medical technologies of the day were very simple by any modern standards. Her job was just to care and nurture the wounded at the time. This wasn't usually the wolves. Occasionally someone on the railroad would be injured and she'd care for them.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

At this stage in her life, Grandma lives for spite and happiness. She shakes her cane at the politicians she hates on TV, and refuses to pass if for nothing else, than to be an imagined pain in their asses. On the other hand, she also lives to see her pack, make them happy, and dote on her 'kids' as if they were her own. There's a reason she frequently takes someone out for ice cream or other treats: Grandma's Perogative. And no one can really tell her no. She'll even capture Lee Winship for a trip to ice cream, even if her driving takes years off his life.
