Cody

Cody is a very new wolf. He's in that stage of being very lost about who he is and clinging on to basically anything and everything for a sense of stability. His whole life has been completely inverted, and it's left him just a lost puppy. Before he was bitten, he was a quiet, timid, and admittedly abused guy who wanted to be a doctor. Of course, he didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of that, but it was his dream. To help people, despite or perhaps because of the awful childhood and life he'd had to that point.   As a wolf now, he's become more aggressive. He's fiercely protective of Everly, his girlfriend. For the time being, he's given up on the dream of being a doctor. As a wolf, it doesn't seem possible for him to get through medical school without significant complications. Worse still, part of him doesn't agree with saving people as it used to. It could be argued he's brought more pain to the world as a wolf, fighting anything that so much as looks at Everly funny. He can't help it. She is part of his pack, and he'll protect her from anything that could ever possibly harm her.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

In his human form, Cody is as wide as a linebacker and well muscled. His face has grown sharper, losing the fat he'd accumulated from years of poor eating options. He would look intimidating in the middle of the street. The naked aggression in his gaze doesn't help matters, he's always looking for someone, something to come after him or Everly. Given that they were attacked before, it is perhaps not an unjustified change in his nature. He isn't the frail guy he used to be.   From a fashion perspective, he is really straight forward. He wears jeans and a cheap T-shirt. Most of his shirts are merhcandise for sci-fi things. He managed to get hooked on Star Trek from a young age (he loved Bashir and The Doctor). It stll carries influence in him today. Also, the shirts are really cheap, so if he wolf's out, he's not out a large amount of money for a new shirt. He's given up entirely on having nice clothes.   In his wolf forms, his fur is dark brown mixed with flecks of grey running throughout. He easily blends in with most of the undergrowth in the woodlands, becoming hard to spot. His eyes become golden as a wolf, as do most other werewolves.   In the feral form, he grows just a touch shorter than a pony, and far longer. As an anthro wolf, the berserker form, he swells to a towering 10' tall, generally average for a male werewolf.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Cody was born to a poor family. His dad worked all day in a low-wage manufacturing job. His mom was a school nurse. They scraped by as best they could, checking off every box in the low-income childhood list: lots of cheap macaroni for dinner, never fresh veggies, unhealthy food, and little in the way of comforts at home. For him, that meant basically no toys; bargain bin, borrowed, or otherwise free clothes; and rarely experiencing such niceties as a trip to the movies or eating out.   It didn't help matters that both of his parents were alcoholics. His mom was a sad drunk, she'd drink her pain away and still end up crying over the bottle every not. His dad was a mean, abusive drunk. On a good day, he could count on to at least get screamed at. And yet... his parents thought the ideal way of raising him was to force him to be home as much as possible, strict curfews and all. As time went on, as he grew up, he slipped out of the house more and more.   The neighborhood kids were Cody's main escape. They played in the streets, sometimes at their houses. Their families were often better off than his, their parents nicer. They were part of a gang that, while it couldn't lift them from poverty, it eased their lives, little by little. Their parents eagerly did the work for even a slightly better life. It wasn't long before Cody was drawn into it. He would hang around with his friends after school, mostly the guy putting bandaids on them when fights broke out. Even as a teenager, he had a fairly impressive grasp on more advanced first aid.   Still, any chances of him making true, honest headway were pretty well nil. His family was poor. His grades were average at best. His dad wanted him to be a factory worker like him, that way in 50 years he could collect a meager little pension like his old man would. Of course, his dad ignored tha the company no longer offered new employees a pension. They hadn't in over 20 years. "I'm sure they'll bring that back any day now, you gotta work for it." The most encouraging words his dad had ever really said to him, and it was just so he'd suffer at the hands of rich assholes.   In 2019, he caught the attention of the head of the gang. It was a rather significant change. Everly, a businesswoman-gangster. She was working to change the gang, to make them more legal, more gray area. They would be more helpful to people and be on the right side of the law. Cody never really had a chance of not dating her. Shortly after that, he moved in with her, escaping his hell hole of a family once and for all.   The early days of the relationship were good. He was happy, he was in love. He was an at-home boyfriend, making their home really a home, pulling her away from the gang work. She pumped him up, giving him the confidence his family never would. They made for a cute couple.   Things only really went wrong when politics came into play. Cody was the victim of a criminal element. Everly had taken him to the Hero's Summit, the city essentially working out how to tackle the increase in super powered people, Enhanced Humans. Some criminal elements wanted to fight against the new hero proposals. They all backed Rand's draconian proposals, and attempted to hold the city hostage. They attacked at the summit.   During the attack, Cody was infected with lycanthropy. It's still a mystery how that happened. He was only attacked by a Skinwalker, a creature which does not carry the werewolf curse. His whole time transitioning was rough. He nearly killed Everly the first time he shifted. He managed to forcibly forge a telepathic link with her, the Mark. It's a rare ability, for a wolf to extend their telepathic connection to a non-wolf.   The Philadelphia pack took him in. He's drifted in the time since. He's struggling with what he wants to be. Who he wants to be, and who he'll be.

Education

Cody's education more or less consists of a regular High School diploma. With the struggles of his home life, he hasn't yet managed to get to college. Everly has promised to pull strings and ensure him the absolute best education a doctor could ever receive. He's willing to do the work, regardless of how long it takes. He knows what waits for him, over a decade of study just to be a doctor, and maybe longer if he wants to specialize. The possibilites are endless.

Intellectual Characteristics

Despite coming from a poor background and having poor educational prospects, Cody is a remarkably bright guy. He taught himself extensive first aid and general healthcare know-how on the hopes of maybe being a nurse's aid some day, just to get his foot in the door with healthcare. He hoped to work his way up from the bottom, if the chance ever arose. He's well versed on the textbook theory of common medical practice. He knows the names of the bones, the different arteries, how to do a tracheotomy, and other common bits. In principal, he knows about as much as a more well-off student going into pre-med school.   He doesn't believe he's a bright guy though. Despite teaching himself and managing to inch himself forward in a hostile environment, he's somewhat resigned to be like his dad: a big, stupid lunk. Becoming a werewolf hasn't helped matters much. He doesn't think about education or the like any more.
