Firefinch Seal

Very little is known about the origin or biology of these creatures, they exist in great number on Zotar and seem to live on both the noxious gases that pour out from the planets core as well as small, crustacean-like creatures that live in rocky crags on the surface. One famed explorer, Marvek Youngtag, was able to study a colony of Firefinch Seals for a short time. He recorded their likeness and daily habits. He was never able to discover their mating habits or their origin as the planet has no other creatures of similar size or features to suggest a common ancestor. The Firefinch Seal is the sole mammalian species on a planet exlusively inhabited by bugs.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Firefinch Seals range from 4-8 meters in length and weight 4-5 tons. They are marked by their bright red and orange fur, which clumps together to form feather-like growths. Pups are rarely seen, but it has been noted that the red coloring is adopted in adolescence.
