Kcedhu (ks-eh-THUH)

Kcedhu (no plural used) were a non-sentient species of shaggy, horned quadrupeds that roamed the open plains and tundra on the frigid, harsh, planet of Lexicon.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kcedhu (No plural used) were heavily built animals with bulky frames, sturdy legs, rounded, cloven hooves, as well as short height and massive weight due to Lexicon's high gravity. Both males and females had long black horns, but males had horns that were bigger and wider, whereas the females had smaller horns. Females have four teats.   Males are also bigger and weigh more than females, even though they are considered short in height, as well as extremely heavy for galactic standards. Kcedhu are extremely strong and can carry up to 20000 kg and up to 5 passengers.   Both sexes had long shaggy hair with a dense woolly undercoat over the chest, flanks, and thighs to insulate them from the cold. Especially in males, this may form a long "skirt" that can reach the ground. The tail is long and horselike and rough.   They evolved to have no sweat glands and have more fat. They also cannot survive in higher temperatures and will suffer heat exhaustion if the temperature exceeds above 15-16 °C.

Genetics and Reproduction

The gestation period for Kcedhu is extremely short, being only.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kcedhu rapidy grow to full size and become mature very quickly.

Ecology and Habitats

Frigid and cold tundra, steppe, and plains, as well as the low mountain ranges.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It mostly eats shrubs such as rhaleng, and grasses like xyrh grass.

Biological Cycle

Due to Lexicon's highly unusual orbit, they grow up more quickly, and their their gestation period is extremely short.

Behaviour

Kcedhu are peaceful, docile, herbivores that are often found roaming and grazing the cold and harsh tundras, plains, valleys, and low mountain ranges of Lexicon and are often and easily domesticated. Highly intelligent creatures, they can be found both in the wild and domesticated.   Kcedhu are extremely social pack animals who travel in herds, which can reach sizes of up to 20 individuals.   Generally, Kcedhu are non-confrontational and usually flee when attacked, fighting only when necessary to defend the herd or their young. The way they tend to attack is by lowering their heads and ramming their horns against their target.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Lexiconians used and heavily relied and depended on Kcedhu for transportation, farmed the beasts for their meat, milk, which was white in color, and dairy products, sheared the creatures' fur to make coats and wool, tanned their hide to make leather, and even used their dung as a fuel source.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to the dim light they receive during the twenty-seven days when Roalas is in the sky, their eyesight is poor, so they have better hearing. They rely more on their hearing than their sight. Vocalizations are an important mode of communication amongst Kcedhu and can provide information on the age, sex, dominance status and reproductive status of the caller. Baby Kcedhu can recognize their mothers using vocalizations; vocal behaviour may play a role by indicating estrus and competitive display by males.   Like all of Lexiconian life, kcedhu evolved with the ability of charging so it can support and nourish itself during the next twenty-seven days when Roalas isn't in the sky.
