Session XI: Home Is Wherever We Say It Is Report
General Summary
After having spent their time relaxing, the Custodes receive word from Merius that they need to head to Lugdunum. Upon arrival, the Custodes meet with Marcus Nepos, who had given them their assignment in Sidolocus, and receive bad news.
While investigating the conspiracy surrounding the ambush in the Glade of Chains, Maera Diodora as well as two other Custodes have been killed in the city of Urbs Aurelianum. Nepos tasks the Custodes with continuing the investigation, hoping that their training, numbers, and the fact that they are forewarned will help them succeed.
Upon arrival, the Custodes are shown to Maera's basement office, where her body has been prepared for burial and preserved until the Custodes' arrival. Aeneas discovers a wound on the back of her head that had been missed - or perhaps ignored - by the local curia during their investigation, and Saorise finds notes that suggest to the two of them that Maera may have begun to suspect the curia itself in the conspiracy.
Aeneas performs a divination ritual and is able to see the moment of Maera's death, which causes him to begin to suspect that her scribe might have played a roll.
