Flamines Et Flaminicae Imperiales

The Imperial Flamines are priests assigned to the Cult of the Divi, the deified Emperors, and the Flaminicae are assigned to the Cult of the Divae, the deified Empresses. The Flamines and Flaminicae are present in great numbers in all provinces, but not in Rome. They represent the Imperial power even in the most remote region and are guarantors of the Pax Deorum, therefore they ahve the right to the greatest honors, such as having the best seats in public shows. In Rome, since it's where the Rmperor himself dwells, these priests are not necessary. This is an elected position that lasts three years and is repeatable.
One is designated Flamen (or Flaminica) by the Order of Decurions, the city Senate, thus this position also has great political value. This is the only public office in which women can be officially elected, and attaining it is source of incredible prestige. It's painful to admit this, but to get it some rich dames conduct, more or less underhandedly, unbecoming plots with great flows of money.
Flamines and Flaminicae are independent prists, which means they are not assembled in a college. They're normally chosen from among the most illustrious members of local society, and often married people are preferred, as they're thought to be more serious and responsible. It's not necessary for them to be married to each other: the Flamen of the Divine Augustus and hte Flaminica of the Divine Livia are not necessarily tied, although in life the two Divi were husband and wife.
"There's rumors that women use underhanded strategies to get elected to the office" he says, pretending that men would never.
