The Realms Beyond Levis at a Glance

You thought there was no more to see. Try again and then wish there was less.

Levis exists on a world, who exists in a solar system, who exists all the way out to a universe. But the universe is threaded with magic, and above all lies the Well of Possibility - a cosmic maelstrom above the plane of reality that is full of chaos and the source of all magic. While each galaxy (and celestial mathematicians suspect each supercluster) acts upon its own magical manifestation of the cosmic laws this is just how the Well bleeds through to reality.

Welcome the people

Across the universe there are several things to understand both in respect to Levis and the universe as a whole. The universe is infinitely complex and to view it in its entirety might drive a reader mad, thus the things discussed within this binder are only things a reader who is interested in Levis might need to understand. To that end, consider the three realms that have had the most influence on Levis - Infernus, Parnathum and Tyr.

Parnathum is the realm of endless fields and endless sun. Its magic is enchantment magic and it is the craftsmanship of what is empowered that determines the strength of the magic there. It contains the Satyr, and the centaur above ground, and the Gorgon below, and has some of the greatest blacksmiths in the known realms.

Infernus is the land of the iron winds. Its focus is on survival, and being true to one's emotions. The magic of Infernus is in its metals and minerals, and is technology is most seen in the Rune-Enriched Magma. Demons and Imps rule Infernus, and their speciality is chemistry.

Tyr is the realm where the humans live. Blocked off from the other realms, humans are the plague upon which all other realms fear. Little is known about their realm apart for whispers of corperations and the sight of cybernetic augmentations.

Welcome the problem

The problem with the realms at large is that things seem to slip through the net that is the portals between realms. Like a folded page, ideas, concepts, people and things end up places they shouldn't. While Levis has a human problem, they are not alone in what gets lost across the universe.

Themes and Inspiration Continued

The core of this project comes from Dryads and solarpunk, but the draw of the realms beyond came from the idea of playing with a core cast of species that are familiar but different. I have not been brave enough to make the universe full of alien species, but have instead decided to balance folklore into their own universes.

The biggest theme I wish to play with in the extended universe is that of how different types of commerce and lifestyle can act as a foil to Levis. Namely humanity and its late stage capitalism.
