Bathing and baths are so much of the culture of Parnathum, the heat, the water, and the soaps and scents. So those that make the scents have taken special place within field and cave culture.

With deep social connections to the nymphs, the average soap maker will have a stall at the corner of any bathhouse to sell some of their more stranger wares.

Purpose

The profession seeks to turn the less used fats and oils of the lands into scents and perfumes, muds and dusts for the self care of those that use the baths.

They mostly work in soaps, and so are colloquially known as Fat shapers (Lipoplástis), though this slang is not derisive, for indeed the scentmakers of these lands can make or break a bath house, and by consequence a settlement.

Social Status

Children dream of becoming scent makers, of joining the partnerships of the most well known ateliers and learning the craft. While in this mentor, mentee relationship, the paired of the two will often become companions, so that the dynamic might continue through the long days without fear of neglecting one's partner.

Most ateliers work in soaps, though many work in the moisturisers that act as fur care. These mixtures are designed to dry thick, and as such are unsuited to skin or scale use, though a few enterprising centaur have developed a moisturiser that works for skin and scale use, though its cost is usually high.

When festivals and celebrations happen, ateliers are the ones likely to make the powders, scents and dusts. And as these are the most common times for such oddities, they tend to be the 'special' self care tools in many a satyr's collection.

The Lipoplástis who most works with the Parnathus bathhouse is Kianthe Thorne, a Gorgon from the north who works in the earthy scents that give Parnathus satyr their distinctive musk. It was this musk that assisted in the satyr Panh being seen by the Foliad of Levis as a loveable barbarian.
