Pastry Mages

While not all bakers are mages in Levis or even the country of Solaris, there exists a group of mages who work with honey and root powder and syrups to create marvels only dreamed of.

While their spells assist in the crafting, they do not just arrange a circuit and pop the creations into being. Though the question of how the mages construct circuits out of jam or get a 5 tiered cake to float each layer without even a touch of a wobble.

Many suspect dealings with the witches or the fey, for wound pastry so delicate and flaky and filled with such a rich mushroom sauce should not explode your hair briefly into a myriad of colours.

While in origin in Solaris, they have been hired to other areas of Levis, one of the main draw cards to some of the more luxurious events, and to not have a pastry mage at an event that could excuse one is seen as a sign of being less influential.

The markings of a true pastry chef is a set of three piercings across the left eyebrow and a small pin attatched to the lapel of an outfit or a place of similar height and prominance (the pin usually patterned from shell).

Pastry mages crown their own, and it only takes the consent of a peer to give them the pin (which the giver will usually craft for the initiate). By that same marking, a peer can also 'vet' a mage their qualifications, and as such rivalries become dangerous to one's standing and career if started before one becomes famous enough to weather a slight.
