Obviously, it is not natural to expect a rider to fight and ride on something that moves at the speed of a jet engine without training. So many of the settlements or outposts that use the jet-engines with seats that are the Infernus hoverbike- or any of the flying or floating creatures across the realms that the demons there have utilised - have developed a Master. A Master is a demon who trains their charges in both the method of riding a hoverbike - balance, steering, control, and resistance to the acceleration forces on the body - And the methods of maintenance and self control needed to fight and ride as part of a team.

A Master usually starts as a skilled rider, often returning to an existing Master to learn more skills to hone their craft, trading knowledge between the two. While no official transfer or apprenticeship happens, eventually either the existing Master dies or retires, or a favoured rider becomes unable to ride themselves and the Master shares/leaves the role for the rider in need.

A master is the more likely than not to be considered for foreman, or raid-leader, though due to a Master being one of the older demons in a community, a Master to raid leader switch tends to result in a raid that is more about ambush than outright attack.

Masters are favoured by their community, by the flighty and by the transient personalities, building a microcosm of personalities around them that are highly interested in the stories of their peers that the Master inadvertently collects. The Master also learns through this community tricks and specialised skills which they can be the body to pass on through a community that does not sit still enough to learn themselves.

Not only is a Master in control of a group of inexperienced young riders. Not only is the Master often one of the few on hoof in the area around volatile machines powered by demonic engines and roaring with barely controlled power. As one of one or two experts in the area, they are designated to deal with things when things go wrong, having to race towards the danger when a problem needs solving.
