Fuzzlyre

Some of the most dedicated bards in Levis have the longest and most well kept hair. Usually held in very careful braids that are either bound down the back, or held up in gentle buns upon their heads, all this is in the goal of being able to play one instrument: The Fuzzylyre.

The instrument is a malleable bowl surrounded by groves which one twists their hair into and draws tight. Chords can be altered by manipulating the drum and the tension of the hair, though this does put strain on the hair and can lead to breakages in the strands of hair. While not enough hair is used in each playthrough for the breakages to matter to appearance after the show, too many within the show can spoil the performance, and as such care is taken by those wanting to use the fuzzylyre.

Often played in the bass and double bass area of the range, given the size of the strings drawn around the circumference of the drum, skilled players have been able to draw higher notes from the fuzzylyre by drawing the bowl more narrow at the top, though the tension is hard to maintain and play without risk to the player's hair and hands.

Experimentation through the ages have been made with artificial strings made of dead vine, or picks made from animal bone, though both have produced often substandard ranges or cut through the hair of the player in the playing.
