Combat Mages
Combat mages, at least around Natare are a group of people, trained by the academy to fulfil any roll that actively requires aggression or implies the need for aggressive self defence.
Roles:
Combat mages can take several roles within society. Such roles include -- Hunters - Assigned as the people who travail the area around the city and nearby forests and plains, hunters are designated with the elimination of things dangerous, whether that be a rogue monster, or the culling of an aggressive community of twinform. In modern times, hunters also are now assigned with combating stray demon raiders.
- Trackers - designed to be the military arm of biologists and ecologists, they will actively take down or subdue predators or out of control large animals.
- Guards - hired for trade or currency, actively protecting a person or thing.
Abilities:
Combat mages house on their bodies and their stances a variety of Circuit tattoos built to enhance their combat. Mixing this with a stiff martial arts regime and a 5 years, outcome based body training course and you get people who are strong, fit, skilled and covered in magic with usually higher than normal flexibility.Outside Natare:
In Saburra, combat mages also serve as town guards, for Br1n and her watchers do not exist this far out and so the Regent of Saburra uses the services of the combat mages to maintain peace. In Saburra they wear a red uniform with a shoulder sash in a grey, often with some sort of head embellishment, from hats to scarves to veils, just to keep the sun off. In Brambleberry, the combat mages are required to meet with a Speaker at the edge of town, so that it might be articulated what the purpose of their visit may be.Perception
Social Status
Combat mages are seen as disciplined, but to those who do not like the academy or the city, they are seen as the clenched fist of both. And to the Twinform they are seen as the hyper vigilant knife at their throats.
