Lancers of Xaoc

Reject the tyranny of the settlement, this land has an excess of food, an abundance of open sky, let your kin feel the night air on skin and fur - like they were born to do.

There is a growing group of centaur who reject the stable, reject working with the settlements of Parnathum in an effort to be free. They reject medicine that is more complex than taking directly from the ground or the air, they reject clothing as stylisation and vanity - they believe they live in a utopia, and that from chaos all things come, and to chaos all things go.

Structure

The Lancers have three 'herds', spread across the globe of Parnathum, the idea of the Lancers travelling faster and farther than the centaur that make up each herd. The common elements of each herd is the idea of a lead scout - a lancer who looks ahead and reports information back to the leaders of the herd.
The northern herd has a lead scout with often two or three apprentices, centaur ready to learn the craft or to defer to the lead. They defer to a leadership of a primary pair, chosen through strength at the start of the mating season (of which they hold to).
The eastern herd has a single scout, and several lead females decide as a collective where and what actions will decide the herd's behaviour. Older males circle this herd, often roaming in orbits around the more matriarchal herd.
The southwestern herd is a single scout, lending ear to a single leader, whose choice is lineage based, for the herd there is strongest when the who of is in charge is not questioned.

Culture

Their main goal is to return to a plains reliant form of living. They keep seeing that the centaur culture is becoming more homogeneous with the peoples of the city, and that the more they cleave to the city the sicker and less vital their people become. While their methods are often aggressive - destroying stables and stockpiles of centaur resources that allow their brethren to settle close to settlement limits.
On the open fields, their culture resembles what the reader might recognise the wild horse or camel populations of the open plains of their own world.

The idea is striking and some would argue that their behaviour is indeed questionable, but for my taste I'd prefer too understand better how this is considered questionable methods. But the idea as is behind it is great!

An interesting group of people, though I think they are somewhat misguided in their rejection of things like more modern medicine etc.
