The Progenitors were a space faring race that existed millennia before the current galactic society. Very little is known about them and the only evidence of their existence are a few broken down ruins scattered on a handful of planets. No one knows who they were or where they went, or why they disappeared. But Galactic Historians place their departure around 15,000 years ago.

Discovery of the Rogue Proton
Era beginning/endThe predecessor of the Galactic Heart Republic sent out several deep space probes to study particles and cosmic radiation far away from stellar sources of radiation, such as stars. After a few days, the probes sent back data that baffled scientists. A proton traveling several times the speed of light. This particle, named "The Rogue Proton" lead to the discovery of Hyperspace, a sub-dimensional space that allows for faster-than-light travel. This was the discovery that lead to the creation of the modern galactic civilization. Centuries after it's discovery, Galactic Histories established the Standard Galactic Calender and placed the discovery of the Rogue Proton as the Year Zero.
