Elîvihel II Gehel

Lord of Gehel Keep Elîvihel Gehel

Elîvihel II of Gehel Keep, nephew of the late king-consort, ruled atop his horse as his heart was set on following his liege lord to war for glory and honour. Few in Gehellûn ever saw their lord, but their needs were met as their lord’s daughter had amicably fulfilled her duties as regent.
— History of the Minor Houses, Vol. III
Elîvihel II of the House of Gehel was the Lord of Gehel Keep, a small fortification on the banks of the Pallern, from 1122 to 1136 AA. Being a relative of the royal family of the Kingdom of the Hartilians, Elîvihel served both King Âldirich and Vôhil with fervent dedication, assisting his monarchs with their campaigns of expansion. After his death in 1136, Elîvihel's reign was remembered as a period of growth, despite their lord's long periods of absence during which his daughter, Einilla, reigned as the regent.

Strict Drillmaster

Father to a son and two daughters, Elîvihel was keen on bringing up his heir as a valiant warrior and a leader of men, educating the young Âldbreh in the art of war. When the boy had reached his teenage years, Elîvihel began bringing Âldbreh along on various military campaigns, teaching him all he knew of combat, logistics, and the communicational skills necessary to command men and to collaborate with allies.   Âldbreh never had much of an opportunity to find his own path in life, as the responsibilities of command were so quickly bestowed upon him. Once Elîvihel had passed away from natural causes, his son continued on the path that his father had set him on, fighting for his realm until it would eventually lead to his untimely demise at the age of 37. As Âldbreh had been Elîvihel's only son and had died before securing a proper heir of his own, the lordship passed on to Hânsil, the grandson of Elîvihel's younger brother Âldal. Had the Lord of Gehel Keep taken a more relaxed stance with his son's upbringing, Âldbreh may have been able to find passions of his own, perhaps finding the time to seek out love and a marriage in the manner of his paternal grandparents, Elîvihel and Apêrah, who had greatly valued romance in their lives.
