Field Marshal Hans von Königsmarck

Hans von Königsmarck is the current field marshal of the Heartlands. He is a half elf refugee from Tolrania that joined the military at a young age and rose through the ranks quickly. His career would come a long way during the first great war, where he distinguished himself and impressed the hand of the king. Besides his achievements the field marshal is known for his sense of honour and his belief in the knightly values of Tolrania.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Königsmarck is a tall and muscular man, a result of many years of military service and rigorous training. He is also considered to be attractive. He has short dark brown hair and eyes of the same colour. When he is not in military service he wears expensive clothes made of velvet, silk and other such materials, in times of war however, he wears heavy armor and rides with the cavalry to battle.

Early Life

Hans' mother was a elven Tolranian woman that lived in the slums of one of Tolrania's larger cities. Her beauty attracted the attention of the local noble lord, eventually they married. The marriage was a great controversy, not only was the bride poor and of low status, but an elf as well. Despite the setbacks they were by all accounts happy and expecting a child. However, tragedy struck. Hans' mother died in childbirth and her husband, devastated by grief, blamed her death on his own son, beating and belittling him throughout his childhood. At the age of twelve the young Hans fled from the von Königsmarck family estate, going from city to city and turning to crime for a while. As he had heard that the heartlands were prosperous he decided to go there and eventually enlisted in the military.

Millitary Career

Hans was competent and intelligent, he didn't break rules and he never disobeyed orders unless the person giving them was incompetent. Whenever something needed doing Hans would always be there to do it, even the most boring and menial tasks. His diligence and talent earned him promotion after promotion.

Great Wars

During the first great war, the Shinotayaku Empire sent forces under Ḱyoto to conquer Valahir. It was during this war, the first great war, that Hans would distinguish himself. In the Battle of the Golden Fields he took command of the right flank and rallied it, thus saving the flank and turning the tide of battle back in their favour. His actions earned him a promotion to the position of field marshal.
Hans would have died a long time ago by this point, but he had inherited the immortality of his elf mother, a thing uncommon in half-elfs. This longevity gave him the opportunity to sack Tarakyo in the second great war. The victory was cut short by the signing of a peace treaty which ended the second great war and he was forced to pull back to the heartlands, where he remains ready to defend them at any cost.

Intellectual Characteristics

Hans is an honorable man with a strict work ethic, during his time in the military he also developed a strong love for the heartlands. The field marshal is a master of military tactics and prefers to inspire loyalty in his troops by fighting amongst them, sharing in their pain and fighting with absolute conviction for his kingdom. He is socially competent, charismatic and polite. He prefers to deal with problems directly and avoids disobeying orders when possible. That said, he will not hesitate to break rules if necessary, this is a trait he developed during his time as a criminal. His charisma, reputation and good looks attract many women and he is known to be something of a ladies' man.
