Kala Fredrick

Discarded from birth, ostracized, feared and hated on her home island in Hawaii, Kala emigrated to the Theocratic Republic City-States of Greece(TRCSG) as a political refugee at a young age.

Now, she wishes to fight for peace among mortals and Half-Bloods so that she, and other Half-Bloods with inhuman features, can one day walk the streets of the world without fear of being attacked or mistreated.

Kala Fredrick, is the only known child of Kamapua'a, the Hawaiian Pig God. Because of her hideous, inhuman appearance, she has faced fear, disgust and hatred her entire life for simply being a Half-Blood. She hoped that all of her problems would disappear when she journeyed across the sea as a stowaway to live and study in the sole Half-Blood run country in the world, but it would seem the Fates were not so kind. Not even in a city with a few other inhuman looking citizens, she is still ostracized by many because of her animalistic appearance. Simply because she is the most inhuman-looking.
Her dream is to become one of the first officially recognized Ambassadors of the TRCSG for the United Nations, alongside her mentors; Sofía García, daughter of Hermes, Vienna Bertinelli, daughter of Ekecheiria, and Dolcetto Higgins, daughter of Amphictyonis(all to be revealed later!) as they fight in the political ring to get the Theocratic Republic City-States of Greece to be an officially recognized country so that they can provide their thousands of citizens protections and support by the world court systems.
As the resident tough girl at Camp before Astraea arrived, the two quickly became rivals, always getting into arguments that soon became full-blown fights. But whenever Astraea hears of other Campers making fun of Kala's animalistic appearance, she quickly joins the side of her rival to help her kick their ass.

Physical Description

Body Features

Kala is extremely tall at 6’4”, broad shouldered and muscular. She is the most inhuman-looking Half-Blood resident in The TRCSG, she possesses a humanoid body with boar features such as short hair on her body, hoofed, boar legs, a short tail, a humanoid head with a small boar snout, largish boar ears and large tusks(~8in long). While she appears hog-like, she is still somewhat recognizable as a human.
She only has three meaty fingers on each hand, including her thumbs. Her nails are thick, durable and sharp, though she is known to file them. She also only has three meaty, long toes on each foot that almost resemble paws or hooves.
Kala is muscular and fit with a solid build and wide shoulders. She has a bit of an hourglass waist with wide hips and shorter than normal, almost stocky legs.
While a lot of outsiders think she is ugly, Astraea still maintains the public opinion that she is rather beautiful. Defending her rival turned best friend whenever she hears someone insult her. Though Kala still doesn't see herself as anything but an ugly monster.

Facial Features

Kala has small, light reddish-brown eyes, furry boar-like ears on top of her head, a short snout and tusks that are about 8 inches in length. Her humanoid head and face are completely covered in short, thick brownish-grey fur.

Because of the placement of her legs, hips and knees, Kala walks in a sort of 'waddle'. She personally hates it

Apparel & Accessories

Because of her unique body, Kala is extremely limited in the kind of clothing she can wear. For example, she cannot wear shoes, socks, long pants or form-fitting clothes. She often has to wear over-sized t-shirts and shorts because of her large torso and inhuman lower legs.
Everyday wear: Kala often wears large muscle tank tops or sleeveless shirts and athletic shorts around Camp.
Swimwear: Kala used to never be bold enough to wear less clothing than she had to, but with the help of Astraea her confidence and acceptance in her own body allows her to now wear a bikini with a wrap over her waist for modesty because of her unique body.
Combat wear: She wears a custom, skin tight black leather breastplate that resembles a leather crop top as it cuts off just below her chest. Her right shoulder has a large armored pauldron and her right arm is fully armored while her left is bare. She also wears a leather belt over a battle skirt and custom armored boots that are flexible enough to fit over her feet.

Personal history

Kala was born in a small town in Hawaii to an unknown mortal woman who, after discovering her grotesque, inhuman appearance, abandoned her shortly after birth.
Much of Kala's early life is unknown to her, but she knows that she was taken in by a local family in the town. Growing up her adoptive family didn't have much money and they scrounged for whatever food they could eat or scrap they could add to their home. Because of this Kala had to learn to steal at a young age to help her new family.
But while her adoptive family were accepting of her, the rest of the community was not. She was constantly ridiculed, picked on and attacked in her early years, with the attacks only stopping once she retaliated in anger and with her enhanced strength she almost beat the man to death.
Now publicly thought to be a menace and threat to the community, Kala was forced to be hidden away in their shack for a number of years without ever seeing anyone outside of her reluctant adoptive family for several years. During this time she grew in height, weight and muscle, but also in a reluctance to be hidden away from the world for her entire life. So one night she snuck out of her house for the first time in her life and walked the outskirts of the community and the wilderness beyond. On her midnight walk she found an old discarded longboard in a trash heap which she took, cleaned up and hid outside the town to return to the next night.
And from that night on for months she would sneak out, race off to her longboard and skate alone down the dark roads by moonlight. Longboarding soon became her escape from her literal imprisonment, but also from her self-imposed imprisonment. She felt so free skating by moonlight, like there wasn't anything in the world that could touch her there. Like the cool night air embraced her for who she really was, despite her appearance. Unlike everyone around her.
But her freedom couldn't last forever. She was discovered one night by a local gang and threatened to leave the island forever. When she didn't back down they attacked, but she managed to scare them off but had been slashed by knives and beaten with sticks and rocks. She was grateful to the Gods for her attackers finally leaving, until she returned home to find it on fire.
Her attackers had barricaded her adopted family in the house and set it ablaze in the moonlight. With her acute hearing, Kala could hear their tortured screaming as they cried out in pleading agony. She wanted to burst into the shack to save her family, the only people who had ever loved and accepted her for who she was, but her attackers were waiting for her outside.
So she fled from the town in tears, leaving her family to die while saving herself. It was as she silently cried into the night that her father, Kamapua'a, spoke in her mind, telling her of a place across the sea where she would be loved and accepted among people like her.
Soon she traveled to a port and snuck aboard a ship heading to New York among the cargo. It was a long and dangerous journey, but soon Kala arrived at the entrance to Camp Half-Blood and the newly formed Theocratic Republic City-States of Greece where she learned that even among fellow Half-Bloods with some inhuman features, that she was mistreated for her appearance. Teaching her that no matter how much she tried or what she did or where she went, that people would hate and mistreat her.
