Wrack Corruption

Another option for players who want a little something different for their character without investing their entire class in giving themselves special abilities. Keep in mind that an openly wrack-corrupted character will cause problems for the party in most parts of the world, and that the character's backstory will need to account for how the character has dealt with this prejudice since they developed their condition.
Wrack, the essence of chaos and change, can corrupt living beings and cause mutations to their physical and mental attributes.   Mild Wrack corruption can often, but not always, be hidden. It can be as simple as an extra toe, a strange hair color or an eye that changes colors. This has led to some of the more conservative nations and societies developing a certain suspicion and distrust regarding those with unusual appearances, birthmarks or other signs the locals don't commonly see.   More severe corruption begins to alter the physical structure of the body, often in ways that make it more suitable for violence. Claws, fangs, a spiked tail and numerous other attributes have been recorded. Typically, the changes are asymmetric, reflecting the chaotic and random nature of the energy.   Wrack corruption also has mental effects. In high doses, it makes living things highly aggressive and short-tempered. In some cases, formerly sentient creatures are reduced to savage beasts unable to access their former intelligence.   Since there is no known method of reversing such mutations, and since they noticeably increase a creature's propensity for violence, those inflicted with wrack corruption are often formally or informally banned or shunned to various degrees in various civilized areas.   In low doses, curiously, wrack corruption will often stimulate creativity and the desire to make things. Some daredevil artists have gone so far as to intentionally expose themselves to wrack energy, hoping for a boost to their creativity and greater ease in accessing their gifts. Those few that succeed without warping their bodies or permanently damaging their minds are the lodestone that draws many other tragic souls to their doom.   Evergrace is particularly intolerant of wrack corruption, with even minimal signs causing the bearer to be treated somewhere between a suspected murderer and a bomb that could go off at any second. Wrack corruption almost always bars entry to the pools of Evergrace, though they are sometimes sent to Pool 13.

Transmission & Vectors

Wrack corruption comes about after exposure to the wrack, a form of energy that shares certain traits with radiation fields. Corruption can't be transmitted the way a virus or bacteria could, but neither can it be cured except in some cases by extremely powerful divine magic.
